Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanne Sciara.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started JBC (Jo’s Bootcamp) three years ago as a donation-based class, once a week. It started off as a hobby and fast forward, it’s now my full-time job. I wanted to create a safe space for individuals, partners, families, fur babies, and more to come and get movement in.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road, oh no. All I can say is, there will be tough times and with those tough times, don’t give up on the vision. Trust the process. Trusting as there may be classes that people don’t show, as in NO ONE and yes, that has happened, So again, letting things play out while enjoying the good and the bad that come with.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
JBC is a group fitness class held outside in local parks around San Diego. I take pride in being able to help people of all ages and fitness levels. What I’m most proud of is the community that has been built, making it so much more than just a workout.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Thats a great question, as I feel the industry is forever evolving for the better. 2020 was a huge shift, opening us up for what I see as endless opportunity especially with online training. As far as big shifts moving forward, I believe we’re still in one. and you’ll see change, given this shift has opened it up for anyone and everyone to create, anything is possible. So to answer your question, YES to ALL. It’s an exciting time to be in this industry.
