Today we’d like to introduce you to Luisa Levy.
Hi Luisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out as an herbalist, then moved onto garden design with my husband. I have always loved plants. As a child my dream was to have a flower shop. As a woman entrepreneur, I used my resources to make my dream come true. My talented husband built me a custom cart where I could display my florals. It’s pretty awesome because I literally have a movable flower shop. It’s a different concept than what your everyday flower shop is like. It definitely gets attention and compliments as well as the freedom to pop up pretty much anywhere I want. I currently strive to learn and make it better everyday and succeed in my dream.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s never easy. It’s a process and hard work but it’s definitely enjoyable. It is all worth it! I love coming up with designs and getting creative. I enjoy setting up my cart and interacting with people. I am learning the ropes of the business as I go and the support of loved ones is definitely necessary. The positive feedback of my clients is very encouraging and a sign that I am on the right track.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I focus on floral design and installation. I make fresh and preserved flower arrangements, bouquets and installations. San Diego is a big city and it’s hard to be noticed since there is a lot of competition. The main thing that makes me different than other florists is my cute little cart. Inspired by my husband, he designed it so I can set it up and break it down in 15 minutes and it only takes a small space. When it comes to creative outlet, I can do what my heart and/or mind desires with any plant/floral/nature element I decide to use. I can make traditional, everyday designs or I can create unique and original pieces. Color, texture, size and shape are all fun to play with when it comes to flower design. My mini arrangements and mini bouquets seem to be a crowd fave!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
The Plant Craft started in Savannah, Georgia as my herbal brand which is now my San Diego floral small business. It will evolve with me wherever I go.
