Rising Stars: Meet Troy Cook

Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Cook. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Head DJ and owner Troy Cook worked in radio for over a decade before starting TNT Entertainment. He was the technical engineer for his Dad’s radio gameshow “Hooked On Trivia”, and produced several other radio shows including Chargers and Padres broadcasts. He began performing as a guitarist & singer at the age of 17 at some of San Diego’s hottest venues including SOMA, Canes, 4th and B, and The Casbah. His extensive background in radio and as a musician lead him to starting TNT Entertainment in 2004.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting TNT Entertainment felt very smooth because I had made all of my mistakes long before that in music and radio. There’s always room for improvement in this very competitive field, but I feel that first and foremost I work in customer service. I provide an entertainment service to my customers, and my first priority is to treat them with respect and show them a great time at their event.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
TNT Entertainment offers DJ’s, Photobooths and lighting for events in the San Diego/Temecula area. We specialize in weddings and corporate events but can provide entertainment for any occasion including Bat/Bar Mitvah’s, House Parties, Holiday Parties, Quinceaneras, and more! We also offer live musicians for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hour.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
The wedding industry is a huge networking opportunity. I would advise anyone that is getting started in this field to always do their best at their events and make as many contacts in the wedding industry as possible. We are constantly getting referrals from venues, planners, and photographers that we have worked within the past. I have found that the wedding industry is primarily a referral-based business, so it’s crucial to connect with vendors in your community.
