Rising Stars: Meet Zoë Rose Underseth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoë Rose Underseth.

Hi Zoë, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Encinitas and have lived in San Diego my entire life, I grow to love it more every single day. I try to stay in the present as much as possible by practicing gratitude and mindfulness knowing I live in a place where people vacation. Living by the beach is incredibly healing! I enjoy long walks in my neighborhood, walks on the beach, yoga, and Pilates to help me stay grounded. I find life to be simple and beautiful. I enjoy spending time with my family, singing, taking photos, long beach days, and trying local restaurants with my husband Chad. San Diego’s food scene is constantly expanding and my main passion at the moment is exploring with my foodie Instagram @cravedbyzoe.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think life is all about balance and perspective. I face difficulties in life by reminding myself “I can do hard things”. For me, when it rains it pours and I think I prefer it that way. Family illness, a broken ankle, a move all in the last year! It will always be something. My husband is my number one support system and constantly challenges me to stay positive. I believe if you focus on the bad then you’re allowing negative thoughts to run your life. I believe in a God that forgives, and I practice forgiveness and grace. It helps to sweat out the stress, ground in nature, take deep breaths and do your best to move forward through the flow of life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Im grateful for my parents who instilled a strong work ethic in me at a young age. My dad Raphael came here from Brazil at the age of 18 and eventually met my Mom, Melanie and they started dating while she was in high school. They eloped at 18 and 22 in bathing suits on the island of Kauai and I was born a few years later. They both worked hard and gave me everything they could with what they had and it always inspires me as well as their love story. My husband and I got married at 20 and 22, and we have lived in Carmel Valley and now live in Carlsbad. Marriage is the best thing in the world and I am so blessed to spend life with my best friend. For the last 4 years I have been working as a tanning artist at Bare Organic Tan. Bare Organic Tan is woman-owned and operated by Alex Roder. I love working at the salon, meeting new people, and helping them feel beautiful in their skin. When I’m not at work, I am pursuing my creative aspirations and I am so excited for what is to come.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Hopefully have continued doing something that I love, some travel, and have started a family. Nothing more I could want!
