Life and Work with Bridget Hodgkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridget Hodgkins.

Bridget, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hello, friends! I’m a 25-year-old wife and momma of two boys!

My journey begins when I became a wife in 2015 at the age of 22 & a mother in 2016!

My whole life leads to those moments. I had always wanted to be a wife & mother. If Lord willing, to be a stay at home mom was the dream & I can say that dream has become a reality! My husband works his butt off as an elevator tech in Los Angeles which has allowed me to stay at home and raise our two boys (2 and a half & a 2-month-old).

My passion has always been to help others, especially other women. Mostly with making sure that they feel loved, valued and worthy. So, I decided to start a youtube channel (Bridget Leilani), which I honestly haven’t kept up with at all! I’m hoping to get back into it shortly. Maybe, I’ll eventually start a blog about body positivity, motherhood & things relating to that!

Another passion of mine that I have is skincare. Ever since high school, I’ve been super interested in fashion, makeup, skincare, etc. I almost decided to go to beauty school out of high school to become a hair stylist/makeup artist but it didn’t feel right so I decided to just get a job for the time being. I eventually came to realize that I’d love to do skincare over make up. It’s always fascinated me! I’d love to go to esthetician school when the boys start school and I have more free time. For now, I think my calling is to just be a wife and be a mother to my boys until they’re more on their own in school, sports and all of that!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh my goodness, no. I’d love to say yes but nothing is ever smooth in life. Sure, there are good, amazing moments but I think if you never go through hardships, you’re not growing. You learn so much from mistakes and hard times.

My advice for other women becoming a young first-time momma and wife would be to give yourself grace. I can be so hard on myself for everything… asking myself, “Has he gotten enough healthy food today?” “Was I too mean to him when he got in trouble?” “Has he watched too much tv today?”… the list of questions and guilt goes on and on. But I have to constantly remind myself to give myself some grace. No one is perfect and you can read all of the parenting books you want but the truth of the matter is you’re going to make mistakes and THAT’S OKAY! Apologize when you need to, ask your children for forgiveness and move on. They won’t remember, I promise you.

As for becoming a young wife, once again, give yourself grace. The laundry won’t always be done. The dishes won’t always be done. Dinner won’t always be ready when your husband gets home and again, THAT’S OKAY. Be patient, graceful and loving to yourself. Again, apologize and ask for forgiveness from your husband. ASK FOR HELP. Oh my goodness, that’s another thing. You have to, have to, have to, ask for help. Sometimes they don’t know that you’re struggling with something until you tell them and ask for their help. More times than not, they’ll be more than happy to help their wife! Same goes for being a first-time mom, ask others for help!!

And for myself personally, I need to make sure that I’m praying and spending time with the Lord! He grounds me & helps me feel worthy. I notice that when my relationship with Him is on track, so is everything else.

Please tell us about Melaleuca and ItWorks.
My work right now is just raising my two boys!

I also rep for a brand called Melaleuca, which is an amazing company that has all nontoxic and no harsh chemical cleaning products! Not only that but they also have detergents, stain removers, dishwasher pods, soap, toothpaste, healthy snacks, vitamins, beauty products, etc. – legit everything you already purchase at target or where ever but it’s chemical free and it ships straight to your door! Oh and all of their cleaning products have a no childproof cap required policy! So, all of the products are clean for our little ones to be around, which is what made me so into this company! Now, my little one can help me clean! Everything is at like target prices as well! So, it doesn’t cost extra than what you’re already buying from the store!

So, I don’t sell for them but I’m a customer myself and I just partner with them and get perks for referring people to their company. If anyone is interested in that, feel free to reach out to me and I can help you swap over to nontoxic products!
