Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Napolitan.
Megan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working in nightlife when I was freshly 21 doing fun patrol at Hard Rock’s Sunburn Pool Parties! From there, I got into bottle service at Side Bar Nightclub and back at Hard Rock, too. Since then, I’ve done guest bottle service appearances and filled in at venues all across San Diego. For being in the industry for only two years, I’ve managed to make my mark!
I started blogging when I lived in Australia three years ago. My original blog was blondiedownunder.com – it captured all my adventures while I lived down under. In May 2018, when I graduated from SDSU, I decided to make another blog: blondeunfiltered.com. It’s a lifestyle blog that focuses on beauty, dating, real sh*t, and everything San Diego! I love when people (guys and girls) come up to me downtown and talk to me about my articles. It makes me so happy knowing that I can impact people’s lives.
You can also find me modeling both on Instagram as well as on the covers of various romance novels, on San Diego’s Energy 103.7 FM’s Facebook series “Single in San Diego”, on two DJ Schoeny’s podcasts, in Pacific Magazine’s Blind Date October 2017 issue, and of course all across Side Bar and Sunburn’s promotional material! I’m also proudly working with different brands all across San Diego. You can’t escape me!
Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road doing what I do – there’s definitely a lot of judgment. But I’ve never been someone to just go with the status quo or to care about the opinions of others. My best advice to other woman is to just do what makes you happy and eff what everyone else says! It’s your life – don’t want to look back and wish you had lived differently. As I always like to say, go live your best life!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Side Bar Nightclub & Blonde Unfiltered – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Between bottle service, modeling, and blogging, I definitely have my hands full! I work with so many different amazing people and brands and am so blessed for that. I think what sets me apart the most is that I’m so transparent and out there! I have nothing to hide and you there’s pretty much nothing I wouldn’t say! I try to keep it real with everyone.
There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Just be yourself and put yourself out there! Authenticity is rare these days so just be authentic.
