Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Avina, Alex Gonzalez, Adam Dobrucki and Chrys Kaplan.
Cheridomingo is a 4-piece emo/indie rock band birthed in 2016 by Anthony Avina, Alex Gonzalez, and Adam Dobrucki. It was started after a failed attempt at a band a couple of years prior, and it’s a project that has seen a lot of hardships, lineup changes, and obstacles. Fighting through all of it, we were able to release our first record called ‘Feelings’ on May 1st, 2018 and complete the lineup with our dear friend Chrys Kaplan on drums. The record took about a year and a half and was a painstaking process. Now in 2019, we’ve come a long way, with a growing fanbase and support structure and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
We make music, we write songs. Always with the goal of creating songs that give us the same goosebumps we get when we listen to our favorite artists/bands. Maybe even more importantly we wanna give people freedom and a community, we want people to listen to the songs, and come to the shows and dance with each other and sing together because we’re all friends, even if we don’t know each other.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
My advice for other artists would be to keep your head down and work. Work really hard and it’ll grow, and get better, even if it’s hard right now. Just keep going. Something I wish I learned earlier and something I sometimes struggle with now is to not compare yourself to what other people are doing. It weighs you down, and it doesn’t mean anything – kinda falls in line with keeping your head down, and just working. Nothing else matters.
