Check out Aaron Adams’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Adams.

Aaron, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m from a small town in Pennsylvania. I started drawing at a young age, following my brother’s footsteps. And decided I was done with snow and racism. So 12 years ago, I moved to San Francisco with some friends on a whim. It was an eye-opener from a small town guy when it comes to art culture. It was amazing but expensive. So I took my last $100 and grabbed a greyhound to San Diego/OB and fell in love with the town and people.

I haven’t left since my arrival. Mainly my art style was pen and ink until about 1 and a half years ago got offered to do some mural work at the harp in ocean beach. Which I have done four large paintings. And to this day is ongoing. And from that point also started painting with color which has been a challenge and rewarding. But always learning.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Well, my art is pretty low brow. Cartoony. I love pen and ink drawing. But this new outlook on color has opened many more avenues creatively. I mainly work on canvas but I find myself creating on anything around me. I do a lot of faces in my work and I hope that people feel all the different emotions in all the faces. Because we experience them all.

What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My only advice is never give up. I’m always learning and failing at the same time. It’s easy to get discouraged. But to see it thru is a great accomplishment. Art is felt differently by every single person so if one person doesn’t like your work. Don’t let it bring you down. Because there are many others that will love it.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see my work at the HARP on Newport in ocean beach. And I’m still working on it so more to come in the future. But I really haven’t branched out professionally so to see my work is really limited to Instagram/Facebook. Most of my painting I finish get sold to friends and family, so they are scattered. But I take commission work and have an art show in LA in June.
