Life and Work with Chloe Lise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Lise.

Chloe, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My infatuation with the world of beauty started at a really young age. I would steal my moms make up in grade school to teach my friends how to do their eyeliner. And my dream job was to work for M.A.C. Cosmetics. I succeeded in that goal in 2006 becoming Professionally Certified by the brand. I’ve been doing freelance work for myself ever since- specializing in weddings mostly but anywhere from print to TV. Working with Jerry Springer and most recently, David Hasselhoff. About six years ago, I embarked into hair which I have become equally passionate about and spend most of my time in the salon working on clients.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely wasn’t always easy. I worked very hard to gain the clientele I have now but there were definite times I thought to just go back to bartending cause it was easy money and comfortable. But instead, I made success the only option. And some people believe in this or they don’t- but I truly feel I have manifested (and hustled my butt off) to be where I am today. I always say that I learn something every time I do someone’s hair or makeup up. Whether that be a skill, technique or even about human nature. Keeping that in mind allows me to remember we all have to start somewhere. And keeping my mind open, allows me to move further in my career.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I believe my personable skills are a huge asset of mine. Being able to connect with all types of people and personalities really has helped me to do my job well.
When it comes to hair, I’m known for my hair extension work, blonding and color corrections.
When it comes to makeup – it’s all about either enhancing one’s natural beauty or showing them they can do something they’ve never tried before!
Making people feel beautiful inside & out is truly the goal. I want someone to leave my chair feeling the same way I would want to feel if I were in their position.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Ego and attitude. I’ve just always learned it’s best to spend your energy being nice and open-minded.
