Conversations with the Inspiring Roxy Kelemen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxy Kelemen.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Let’s face it, no one goes to college to become a title sales rep. The reality is my job is usually acquired by chance or by referral. When I look back at who gave me the break and how I self-developed through this process, I am still in disbelief.

Sales of any kind requires a strong curiosity. Nothing is set in stone; it is all fluid. I took counsel and practiced what my mentors, teachers and trainers shared. I soon started noticing my authentic self in sales develop. My efforts were taking shape. The journey was becoming the gift, the results became my financial freedom. The message and my model were very clear, and it was time to help guide other Realtors who were raising their hand.

As the sole provider for my family, I get up with direction and purpose every day. My love of family and the support I get from them is immeasurable. As far as this business of selling title insurance goes, it is the best gig I have ever had in my life. No other job has given me a place to exercise my imagination and calling. I love to go out and teach thousands of real estate agents skills and models throughout San Diego and Riverside Counties. This helps them achieve their dreams and goals. It is both exciting and satisfying. To me, it’s not just a job, it really is a calling. There will be much more to come as we move through this year. No limits.

Has it been a smooth road?
When you work by commission only and in a highly competitive business like mine in title insurance, nothing is easy; if it was, everyone would be doing it. Few make it, it’s sales for goodness sakes! One must get into a healthy relationship with rejection. You need to be ok to experience it over, and over again. That is the difference between giving up or trying it again. The main way to succeed as a top producer of any business, is knowing yourself and your “why.”

I don’t define myself by other opinions. To be honest, many naysayers are not fit people already. We all bring some type of baggage to a job, how you have been raised, your relationships with others, how you see yourself and how you see money all help define your business success.

If I had to say something to my younger self, it is that, you are worthy, always find people who help you stretch, be careful hanging with those that already feed into your insecurities and fall in love with the process, journey, walk, and the outcome will happen.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I sell title insurance. What is that? It’s like the CSI investigators of real property. It’s a history search. It is not like homeowner’s insurance, life insurance or car insurance. Those are insurance policies for possible issues that are future bound, and you pay a premium for that insurance over, and over again. Title is for today, backwards. You pay your premium once at the purchase or when you refinance your home.

Our brand is us. If I move companies of which I have, my clients follow. That is a feeling of great pride for me and my team. Our team is known as a teaching team, and we do a ton of work on video so it can be replicated and hit larger audiences. Today’s consumers are already telling us how they want to receive their information. So, we are accommodating them.

I think one of the major things that sets us apart from any other brand or title rep, is the deep desire to show up as partners. I know when we provide a solid insurance product and help Realtors attract more consumers, we are doing the right thing. That is very exciting for us.

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
I actually have touched on this subject on the nationally televised Leeza Show many years ago. I was there to talk about my thoughts on women rising up the financial ladder. On the panel, there were authors and professionals with doctorate degrees, and then there was me. My response then, is the same today. The women in my life who I have been surrounded by and that I have let in, have raised me up, given me what they knew and shared the easiest ways to get from one success to the other. The difference is that I did the work, they gave of themselves and I respected the gifts. Taking action with what you know is powerful and few do it. Opportunities are limitless. Walk away from the noise or anything that will derail your walk.
