Today we’d like to introduce you to Collin Snyder.
Collin, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I knew by the time I was seventeen years old. I wanted to become a tattoo artist. I was assigned a project in my high school English class on what I wanted to do as a profession after high school. I remember telling my teacher I was planning to doing the assignment on tattooing. She laughed and proceeded to tell me that’s a hobby and not a profession. Long story short, I still decided to do it on tattooing and ended up failing the assignment. From that point on, I figured I needed to go to college, so I went to community college for a year and a half after graduating high school. After that year and a half, I caught myself drawing more than doing my school work, and figured I would take a look at tattooing again. Soon after that, I had found an apprenticeship and finally started my tattooing career.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am a tattoo artist. For me, when I started getting tattooed. It made me feel better in my skin. As if it defined me for being unique in a way. When I started drawing, it was a way to create. When I found tattooing, it was a way to do the same thing, yet it was a way for me to create something permanent and for people to cherish forever. My artwork is to always bring light into someone’s life.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
The biggest lesson I have learned is to never give up on what you want to do. You may find a block in the road, but it shouldn’t stop you from what you want to do and accomplish. Also never let a high school teacher tell you what you can and can’t do in your future. That’s your future, not theirs.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
