Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Weatherbee and Adam Cunningham.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura and Adam. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We are co-founders of Live to Sustain. We met two years ago, and instantly bonded over our shared passion for the environment, and love of nature and the outdoors. We wanted to channel our enthusiasm into something that would create a positive impact in our community. We started Live to Sustain with the intention of digging deeper into the concept of sustainability and sharing our discoveries through our blog and podcast. We share tips to make sustainable living easier every day, and initiate conversations on what sustainability means and why it matters. We’ve got big dreams for the future, but Live to Sustain is currently our side-hustle. Adam works full-time in technology and market research, while Laura is currently pursuing a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
Has it been a smooth road?
We’re constantly figuring out ways to refine our message and make enough money to focus on it full-time. We make a small amount of money through affiliate marketing sales, but the social media world is constantly evolving, and it’s hard to keep up. We’ve been focusing on quality over quantity lately to avoid getting sucked into the trap of the “always on” media culture.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Live to Sustain story. Tell us more about the business.
Live to Sustain is our passion project devoted to spreading the word about sustainable living. On our website, blog, and podcast, we explore ideas related to environmental, social, and economic sustainability, We recently purchased a 25-acre property in Washington State with the intention of building a retreat center over the next few years. Our mission is to learn everything we can about sustainability and to share that knowledge with our community. We take a realistic approach to sustainability. We are not here to judge or compete with each other. It’s about supporting one another on the journey toward sustainability. Together we can build a sustainable future.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Sustainability will affect every single person on Earth over the next 5-10 years, and embracing sustainable living practices will be an absolute necessity. People are concerned about the future of our planet and want to make responsible choices that will have a positive impact on the world around them. From ethically sourced ingredients to zero-waste packaging, consumers will start demanding better quality products, and gravitate towards companies that value people over profits. There is so much information out there, and it can be overwhelming at times. We want to guide people through the world of sustainability and bring clarity to a complicated subject.
