Shannon , let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was a Medical spa owner for over 10 years in San Diego and I often found it difficult to find medical professionals with Aesthetic training. I personally worked/trained for the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and once I discovered my passion for teaching and the need for Aesthetic trainings, we established, “Medspa Pros”.
Our board certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Robert Kearney, currently practices in La Jolla, Ca. He has been in practice over 20 years and is double board certified. I myself am a Family Nurse Practitioner and our staff includes RN’s that have with us on our medical spa for over 10 years, as well as our administrator who has many years of managing/operating medical spas and other businesses.
We are passionate about helping others learning aesthetics! We teach not only group courses, but do even more private trainings for both individuals and offices, as well as startup Medspas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There is never a “smooth road” when you own a business. For us, it has been a goal of ours to grow slow, and provide the most quality training possible. We have been operating for just over 5 years and now, and currently cover California, Utah, Nevada, and private trainings in other states as requested.
Our goal is to branch across the US, but at a slow pace so that we never lose our “quality trait” as a training company. I would say our biggest struggle at this time, is that we are booked out for several months, and need to acquire more quality trainers so that we are not holding professionals back for getting training asap.
Medspa Pros – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Medspa Pros is an aesthetic training company.
We specialize in group courses, teaching injectables. We also do a considerable amount of customized private training in any/all Medical Spa procedures. These procedures include: injectables, (PRP) platelet rich plasma, micro-needling, lasers, chemical peels, body treatments, IV and inter-muscular injections, vaginal rejuvenation, thread lifts, hair transplant, etc…
I would say we are most proud of both our reputation for quality training, but also for our amazing staff. We are easy going and aim to make others feel comfortable, no matter their level of expertise. We love all levels of medical professionals, from medical assistants, aestheticians, to nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and doctors. We also train office staff if needed.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I personally define success as “comfort that when I go to bed at night, that I gave 100% in whatever I have done for that day”. Success to me is not a $ amount, but a personal satisfaction that I helped someone achieve their goal or dream. I have had so many help me along the way in life, that I hope to continue my path by helping others.
I accomplish my goals in my everyday work, by making my personal patients feel better about themselves, in aesthetics, hair transplants, and in dermatology practices that I am a part of. I also participate in medical mission trips and contribute to helping others who are less fortunate accomplish not only receiving health care, but also assisting in their education goals. - Our group courses: Botulinum Toxin Level 1 training: $750 (does not include Botox/Dysport- saline provided)
- Dermal Filler Training: $1450 (includes 2 syringes of filler)
- Private Training: $200/hr, additional $100/hr additional staff (products and travel expense not included)
