Meet Quinia Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinia Anderson.

Quinia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, I began doing hair at 12yrs old. I really relied on it as a hobby. However, as time progressed I began styling hair for my family and friends from school and the neighborhood. I pursued several different jobs over time, but none compared to my passion for this industry.

In September of 2015, I graduated from cosmetology school and in October of 2015, I earned my license as a cosmetologist. I get butterflies thinking about that day receiving my license. All the hard work and long nights at school paid off. I learned a lot working in private studios and different shops over the years. Those experiences prepared me for where I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, but I’m thankful for the journey. I decided to embrace this journey with the mindset that change is inevitable, but my growth is not optional.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
Quinia K Beauty is definitely designed with the consumer in mind to receive beauty services while enjoying a plush experience. Currently I offer select hair services to include silk press, braids and more. I’m known for silk pressing hair and braids but I am branching into lashes and brow care.

I’m most proud of the growth of my business/brand and the improvement of my skillset. I started out doing hair at home in Michigan and traveling overseas and now I’m licensed and working in California. What sets me apart is that I recognize that this industry is constantly growing and my ability to stay true to what I believe and operating with a high standard of care, concern, and knowledge makes the difference.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Well, I really have been planning to open a shop here in San Diego. I’m looking forward to having a grand opening in January 2020.
