Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Julian.
Belinda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Well I had my son when I was 17, and I graduated beauty school around 19, and have been doing hair ever since.
I recently published my first book called Makeover. It is in short a book of my own personal journey of over coming hardships and hardwired beliefs; and the unbecoming of who I’ve been taught or modeled to believe I was.
My personal journey of the life wake up calls (spiritual awakenings) that were sometimes tragic but a necessary catalyst to change the trajectory of my life. To do the internal healing work and to be of service.
This combined with the brilliant works of inspiring women that planted seeds in my mind of my potential, which I realized I was barely scratching the surface of.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I absolutely believe in pursuing your passions and things that bring you great joy. But you are right;the road getting there is typically a bumpy one.
I moved out when I was 14 because of a turbulent home environment, and had my son at 17. Being a single mother I worked two jobs and went to school all the while caring for a young child. I continued to work hard and build my business as a hairstylist.
And then a string of challenging events hit my one after another calling me to wake up to the ways I was in certain areas of my life still reliving a disfunctional life.
This is when I had a vision of writting this book even though I had no formal experience. In fact because I moved out at 14 I didn’t even go to high school.
So things that may have came easy to others when writting or publishing a book were challenging for me (you should see me on a computer haha). Despite all that When this book came to me in a vision, despite having zero expierience writting a book or how to go about it. I just knew I had to do it- I basically couldn’t not do it.
Even right up to the very moment of publication I faced some extremely challenging hardships, my dad passed away unexpectedly/and simultaneously my son was diagnosed with some pretty heavy mental illness diagnosis’s yet I persevered knowing I had to get this book out in the world.
Tell us about your business.
I am currently a hairstylist at Evian salon and spa.
And my book Makeover. Available on

I take readers on a detailed account of easy to digest spiritual teachings I’ve gathered along the way. And because I’m a hairstylist the last almost 20 years. The chapters are hair terms(but have nothing to do with hair) They parallel the human journey.
My hope is to touch the lives of women who have dulled their shine, over functioned for others, and who’ve doubted their power and magnificence. I want to help them to remember the brilliance that is ever present within. In return inspire them to share their unique gifts with the world, and live their lives with intention.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to continue to do the inner work to be my best self, and turn that into heart base offerings to those around me. Hopefully inspiring others to do the same. (I may also have a few more books in me ☺️).
