Today we’d like to introduce you to Manuel Sanchez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Manuel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, it’s been a wild ride. I knew I wanted to get into real estate about six years ago after religiously watching Million Dollar Listing. It crossed my mind here and there and always thought of it as a fun profession. One that is a very rewarding one that you can set your schedule, work from home and collect commission checks weekly. But the only check I got was a really big reality check. I started my career back in Beverly Hills, I was selling cars for Porsche at the time. After getting my real estate license I quit the car business and dove right into it without really having a clue. The first few months were the hardest, I didn’t have any direction and my savings were quickly evaporating.
After four months I was done, I quit real estate and moved back home to San Diego. It was devastating for me, I thought real estate was going to be my thing. It took me about five months of figuring out what I wanted to do, I was reading self improvement books and working out like crazy. But one thing I could not stop doing was thinking about real estate. I decided to give it another shot, and 15 months later here we are! I was able to close 14 deals in my first 15 months and like they say the rest is history.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No not at all, to be honest, the first six months were the toughest. Nobody knows who you are or how good you are. I was given the opportunity by people who trusted me, and that meant the world to me. I knew I couldn’t let them down. With deals came self confidence and that got me more deals. I read a tone of books and engulfed myself in everything real estate. I studied every night and listened to pretty much every real estate podcast out there. Even after doing so real estate sales are not easy. I have been very strict with my work schedule and I am on the clock every day. The discipline you must have has to be that of a lion, if you don’t hunt you don’t eat and so for me, it became that. I do on average five open houses a week and I’m consistently on all social media platforms showing value. Real Estate is a customer service business, if you are not knowledgeable about the market, have good sales skills and have patience then you will not succeed. At the end of the day, you are working with people with different goals and you have to be able to manage every type of personality and that means putting your ego aside.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
It starts with fully appreciating each customer and then finding creative ways to fulfill their needs and wants. I specialize in helping people reach their goals, as corny as that may sound. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a big smile on my clients’ faces when they get their offer accepted or when we close escrow on the sale of their home. I approach each client the same way, with the utmost respect and I listen to their needs. Each client comes with different personalities and real estate goals, so I give them a tailored service. Whether it is coming up with a creative marketing campaign for their home or finding ways to get an offer accepted. I am there to give them the highest quality of service. I am extremely proud of how much my real estate business has grown by doing just that, value and honesty goes a long way. My business is my life and I treat every person I meet as a potential client, you never know where your next deal is coming from.
What were you like growing up?
Well, contrary to how I am now growing up I was a quiet shy kid. I was kind of weird and went through different phases, which I guess every kid does. I was shy but interestingly felt the most confident when I was onstage acting, I was the preppy kid who was hanging out with all the drama kids at school and acting out in home movies with my brothers. I just really enjoyed acting, still do. It was fun times, all I wanted to do was move to Hollywood and act. I did just that when I moved to LA but it never really went further than a couple of Disney commercials. My interests have varied so much, I like sports cars, motorcycles, watches and golf. And on the other hand, I enjoy theatre and old gangster movies with Al Pacino, Robert Dinero and Marlon Brando. I’m a huge film buff, I guess you can call me an old soul (laughs).
