Today we’d like to introduce you to Andria Skerl.
Thanks for sharing your story with us, Andria. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Started in 2017. My friend and I had a love for boba or milk tea. We would go around to different places to taste and rate them between each other. It was just something fun we did. Then that fun grew into food as well but it was just still all fun between us.
We ended up taking a trip together, we went to Canada, wanted to see Niagara Falls. While planning the trip itself, we had acquired this list of food and drink places we wanted to try. More of that than sights to see. Along with snapping photos of Niagara Falls, we were also taking photos of our food and drinks. Wasn’t sure what we were going to do with those pictures but we took them anyway as part of our memories. After that trip, we started to talk about sharing all our adventures on Instagram. We wanted to travel more, we wanted more good food. We wanted to explore.
After about a month of talking about it, August 2017, PlaneFoodies was created and we have been going ever since. We have traveled the US and even Internationally and have shared the adventures with the world!
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, yes. It’s pretty smooth. This is a ‘hobby’ or an ‘as we see fit hobby.’ If we are out and about and hungry, we share it. If we travel and eat, we share it. The one struggle we have is trying to figure out where to go next and getting the time off work to do so. So many places, so little time.
PlaneFoodies – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
PlaneFoodies is strictly on Instagram. It is a collaboration of our foodie adventures. We are proud that we have done this on our own. We are not sponsored by anyone. What would set us apart is that we have the ability to travel at will. Not many people can just decide to hop on a plane and have dinner in a different city.
We welcome people to contact us about the places we need to try. We are also open to invites. We are compiling a list of places and we will keep adding to it. May not happen tomorrow but one day it will. Any place that is referred to us, we will also give credit to that person on Instagram.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the diversity in the food in San Diego. We can go downtown and have our pick of any type of food. Thai, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Moroccan, Vietnamese, Indian and so on. Endless food possibilities. Plus, you can drive to any nearby neighborhood easily for even more choices. San Diego is big but still manageable to get around.
