Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Kuri.
Deborah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My name is Deborah Kuri, 33 years old, currently single and mother to a two-year-old golden retriever, Satorih. I am deeply passionate about energy, healing, universe’s synchronicities, and helping others heal inside out, so I decided to quit my family business as a Business Manager in an aluminum company to pursue my calling.
I currently run my own business Reikilibrium which offers a variety of services and products to encourage people to begin a soul journey where they can compassionately get in touch with their emotions, traumas, life experiences, and/or any obstacles, challenges or auto-sabotage to understand themselves, achieve clarity and heal.
I am also a very active person who greatly enjoys the outdoors, making this part of my personal therapy to keep myself centered. I enjoy spending time at the mountains hiking and appreciating/thanking Mother Nature as much as possible. I am also a yoga instructor at a boxing club and love to transmit conscious movement and calmness through active meditation. I am an Ironman 70.3 finisher as well as a three-time marathoner. My active lifestyle has led me to be part of a national community running groups such as Bad Ass Lady Gang SD.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This has definitely been a journey! But wouldn’t change a thing! Every stone in the way, every obstacle, every challenge has had a great impact on my personal growth and I am thankful for that.
At the end of the day the biggest challenges I have encountered, the broken hearts, the darkest nights, the judgments, the fears, the why not’s, somehow turned into the energy that helped me create those moments were I got be more in touch with myself, activating that power in me to try harder, run the extra mile, listen to my inner voice, be aware of my inner- power and believe in myself. I had to become my number one patient through my own life experiences in order to be here today connecting through empathy with my patients, understanding what they are going through, connecting in a soul level, and creating bridges of understanding heart-to-heat.
It certainly wasn’t easy letting go of a very good paid job and the security it gave me. It was also not easy letting go of all the opinions and reasons why I shouldn’t follow my heart and my desire to pursue my journey as a reiki therapist. But if you ask me now, it was all worth it.
Reiki is a holistic therapy still unknown to many people; as humans, we are trained to believe only in what we can hear, touch, see, feel, and understand without much work done, therefore this has definitely become a challenge for example in the work I have done in hospitals. I have a great passion for alternative medicine and find it very exciting and rewarding to be able to serve as a conduit in bringing calmness, relaxation, and a stress-free environment to patients/individuals. Reiki shows a wonderful effect in reducing pain and also lowers patient’s secondary effects of administered medication.
At first doctors, nurses and hospital staff would have their doubts about this holistic technique and would not fully participate, allowing only treatment for their patients but not on themselves. Ten years later, I am still serving as a volunteer giving treatment not only to my oncology pediatric patients but also to doctors, nurses and staff! Based on my past experience as a Reiki practitioner in hospitals, I have been able to present change in hospital staff and patient’s attitudes by channeling high levels of stress of daily living.
We’d love to hear more about your practice.
I am a Reiki Master and I have been practicing Reiki since 2011. Ever since I took my first reiki session as a patient, I felt an instant connection and need for something to help me heal my emotions, my thoughts and my way of living. I was on a journey of finding something that would let me connect with personal and spiritual growth. I obtained my Reiki Level I, II, III and double Master’s Degree from Argentinian School: Reiki Time in Casa Dakini Tijuana, Mexico. I also received a second certification on levels I and II from Sacred Seal in Los Angeles, CA. and I recently traveled to Japan to obtain the Komyo ReikiDo Level I and II certification from Sensei Hyakuten Inamoto.
Reiki is an energy therapy that assists in connecting people with their soul, mind, and body by putting the person in touch with his or her interior. I call it “ a journey within,” allowing us to see us from the inside – out acknowledging our emotions, accepting them and being open to work with them to achieve personal healing. How does it work? Although Reiki is energy and can be done without touching and/or long distance, a private session consists of the therapist, in this case me, using my hands to channel the universe energy into the patient, providing time and space for the individual to silence the mind and connect in a deeper level with their interior. Therapists’ hands may be positioned in different bodies such as head, shoulders, hands, knees, and feet, but maybe done from a distance as well.
Ever since being certified as a Reiki practitioner, I have been volunteering in hospitals, autism schools, hospices, and providing private sessions. My goal is to expand my Reiki practice so that more people get to live and enjoy the many benefits this therapy has, helping my patients understand the importance of living a mentally, emotionally and physically a healthier life.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Absolutely, as I have mentioned previously my personal need to heal is what led me to this journey. I can say I had a pretty decent childhood, but I did grow up with somewhat anger and emotional challenges that mostly came from family beliefs, limited programming, and but not limited to inherited emotional weight.
I am a true believer that everything you experience takes an important place in your growth, but it is your decision on how to live it. You can either use what happens to grow and heal or you can use it as a burden and limitation; and this is exactly what I love helping people with, trying to squeeze life experiences and drink up the healthy juice in them, instead of drowning in the juice feeling sorry for our existence.
