Meet JaNae Bell of PGPTheMovement in South East San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to JaNae Bell.

JaNae, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
“PGPThemovement,” aka “Pray Grind Praise Apparel,” all started off as a motto. The motto “Pray Grind Praise” was created by the way my mentality was at a very young age. With having a faith based-background, it was already instilled in me that anything I wanted to have I could attain it. Hence, creating the “GoGetta Mentality.” “GoGettas,” aka “Goal Gettas,” are what we call our supporters. Once I become of age, I got Pray Grind Praise tatted on me. From that day forward, this was the quote I lived by. I was always into fashion, so it was only second nature to me to start putting my motto onto apparel clothing. I began to wear my apparel around the school and so you know it, the apparel had caught a few of my peers’ interest!

I then released PGP apparel in the year of 2017. Because Pray Grind Praise started off as a lifestyle, and I mirrored that not only did people enjoy wearing the brand but the inspiration became contagious and it reflected in others as well. I realized and experienced what “PGP” has done for me and seen what it has done for others in my community. I became exhilarated by the results and produced a movement out of a clothing line. I am, till this day, establishing a community filled with leaders who educate others on the importance of generational wealth, empowering our peers to seek their highest potential by applying Pray Grind Praise into our lives to create the life we deserve.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, and of course, I did not expect it to be. Some challenges did come along. Such as, having the courage to start in something I believed in, and not only start but to continue to learn about something I was never previously taught how to do. Which was run a business. I just gravitated to it. However, a lot of challenges I faced I eventually overcame by simple problem-solving. Just to touch basis on the few challenges I faced, one was the delivery process of my business. Starting off without a website, I had to deliver my clothes to our supporters around the San Diego Areas.

At some point, the demand for the amount of deliveries became overwhelming for just one person. Yet I still found joy and excitement in engaging with our supporters face to face. Eventually, we solved that problem by creating a shipping method. Fast forward time, another one of the struggles along the way that I ran into was communicating the appropriate size for each individual that wanted to represent the apparel. I learned you have to go through certain things to get it right. As time went by, I became more educated on how to satisfy customers by giving them their correct and comfortable sizes.

Please tell us about PGPTheMovement.
My business is an inspirational clothing line that has a vast majority of apparel items, including household items, accessories, and footwear that inspires people on a daily basis to become the best day can be by including PGP into their everyday lives. PGPTheMovement originated from the clothing lines’ success. The movement’s mission is to establish a community of like-minded leaders who builds an environment of people who takes the initiative to live the lifestyle they need too live, walk into who they need to become in order to achieve the things here on Earth we are destined to do. We specialize in empowering others through apparel, through spoken word, music, education and lifestyle. We are known for our comfortable and stylish PGP shirts, which represent the PGP logo. What I am most proud of with the business is the impact that we have been able to reach so far, and for the success in the near future. What sets PGP aside from others is that we are more than just a clothing line. We have more to offer than just clothes.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t have done anything differently. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and each failure counts as a lesson if you look at it from the right perspective. It not only made me who I am, but this journey made the movement what it is today. I wouldn’t change anything.
