Meet Samuel Adetunji of Veriheal in Little Italy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Adetunji.

Samuel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I grew up as a first-generation Nigerian American. Born in Brooklyn, New York, I saw my parents come here with not much but make it in this country, with my dad creating a lane for us to move from the rough parts of New York to Northern Viriginia. Seeing my parents creating something out of not much, it gave me the go-getter/hustler mentality. My friends and I always created little businesses in the neighborhoods we grew up in, from lawn mowing all the way to shoveling snow.

Veriheal was created when my business partner and I saw an opportunity in the cannabis industry from a connector/technology standpoint. There were no companies that really dominated in connected patients with doctors. With telemedicine being so revolutionary, we decided to build our own platform that would disrupt the industry.

Not knowing how to code, we put our money up and found the right team and partners to build our software/system to create what we have now.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a very rough road. Starting out, we heard nothing but negative feedback, banks wouldn’t work with us, investors wouldn’t take our meeting, and some family thought it was a bad idea.

Josh and I stayed persistent and didn’t turn a profit for at least the first two to three years. We kept our jobs, stayed focused, cut expenses, and worked our tails off because we understand our service could help change lives.

I believe every great business and empire must go through a rough road. Without rough times, you can crumble with all the curveballs that can get thrown at you.

Veriheal – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a telemedicine company in the cannabis space. We connect doctors with patients who are interested in learning more about cannabis and finding cannabis legally.

I’m most proud of the brand that we have built. We have become a trusted source for information and education in an industry that most people shy away from. We made sure that when building our brand, it was easy on the tongue, professional, and fun.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
First and foremost, my team at Veriheal. They are ROCKSTARS and without them there would be no Veriheal. We have a team of over 100 employees that includes doctors, marketing representatives, sales wizards, and even customer service representatives. They are the life blood of our business. My family and close friends as well. They keep me motivated and continually cheer me on through the ups and downs.
