Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Morgan.
Hi Patricia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always been a nail art enthusiast. I used to do my own nails in High School & loved to paint them with unique designs. I was encouraged by some friends to go to beauty school and ended up going to Bellus Academy, which kick-started everything. Shortly after getting licensed, I was recruited by another SD local and a celebrity nail artist who were planning to open a salon in West Hollywood. I moved up to LA, where I was able to work with and meet people like Cardi B, A$AP Rocky, and FKA Twigs. I moved back to San Diego to have a family and now have my own business doing Nails in a private studio. I love my clients out here, San Diego is home.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t all smooth sailing, I had a little bump in the road. I got very nervous and messed up on my Practical exam for state boards. I had to retake it which is common, if you feel unprepared or nervous just remember it’s not the end all. Study and retake it; never give up on yourself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a nail technician but also a nail artist. I’m known for my shaping and structure, but I am also known for my handpainted nail art. I can paint anything from Pennywise from “IT” to Anime characters. I love art and am always taking classes to hone my skill.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’ve learned that we all need to slow down. After having a baby about a year before, I was enjoying the extra time with my little one to bond. We often are overworked and seeing our family less once we go back from maternity leave. It’s a realization to appreciate the present.
