Hidden Gems: Meet Juliana Bruni

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliana Bruni.

Hi Juliana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Juliana Bruni, a native Brazilian, mother, surfer, traveler, nationally certified Holistic Health Practitioner, spa consultant, bodywork teacher, Wellness Therapist at Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa and yoga retreat leader/instructor at Gather studio in Encinitas. I currently live in Encinitas, California, small surf yoga and holistic community. I’ve always been fascinated in exploring new cultures and helping those most in need wherever I go.

I began practicing yoga and studying Holistic Health 25 years ago after losing my mother to breast cancer at age 36 and my dad to a heart attack at age 56. It was the darkest time of my life. I moved to California and immediately immersed myself in all the yoga I could find. This time in my life has inspired me to teach and study Holistic Health. While I was exploring yoga and holistic health in California, I traveled to the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador, where I spent time with Shamans who taught me their healing knowledge. In 2017, I was rated as the number one Holistic Health Practitioner in San Diego.

I have dedicated my work to uplifting and empowering my clients and students by cultivating a safe space for true transformation as well as volunteering in orphanages and working with local communities when I travel internationally. Giving back to local communities and being able to help those who need it the most has always been my purpose in life- from volunteering in orphanages or simply helping communities to have clean drinking water after a natural disaster. There is so much going on around the globe at this time, but if each one of us does something, then we can help alleviate at least some suffering in the world.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As an immigrant and bilingual speaker, it has not been easy at all. I had to learn a whole new language. As a single mother, I’ve had to work three jobs most of the time while also going to school. So organizing your priorities and time is very important.

I always face obstacles with the mindset that they will help me grow. One phrase that has always been in my head since I was a little girl and helped me when I was struggling emotionally or financially is: “Face your fears and live your dreams.” I know it may sound cheesy or may not be easy sometimes to believe, but believe me it works, and has been working for me. Go for it! Work hard! Follow your dreams and your life purpose. Yes, there will be obstacles. Use them for your growth, and you won’t fail.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a nationally certified Holistic Health Practitioner with more than 25 years of professional experience as a wellness and massage therapist, spa consultant, bodywork teacher, yoga instructor. I’ve hosted many Yoga Retreats in Brazil, Hawaii, and Costa Rica. I have been working as a Spa Consultant for the Resort/Spa industry worldwide and have introduced Holistic training to top Spa destinations throughout Central and South America.

As a body worker I try to provide a unique and deeply special form of Healing. With deep knowledge in Holistic Health and studied with South America Shamans I use intuitive tools to clear both physical and energetic blockages to bring the body, mind, and spirit into a balanced state of health and wellness. I use many different healing modalities in my sessions such as Reflexology, Energy Healing with crystals, therapeutic approach and Intuitive. Each session is a unique and totally personalized healing journey.

As a yoga instructor, I have had the experience of working with diverse groups of students, including those who are physically challenged. As a Spa Consultant, I’m passionate about wellness and healing spas, and my mission is to bring awareness to how spa treatments can bring about health, balance, and a holistic wellness lifestyle.

If you want to change your career and became a Holistic Health Practitioner or just add some knowledge into your life, my classes and training emphasize a holistic perspective of body, mind, and spirit. (Continuing Education Credits with Yoga Alliance).

Who else deserves credit – have you had mentors, supporters, cheerleaders, advocates, clients or teammates that have played a big role in your success or the success of the business? If so – who are they, and what role did they plan / how did they help.
I’ve had a wide array of teachers and people who have influenced me. From the Shamans of South America, world-renowned spa educators, yogi and dear friends, Shemi Amarsi and Kathy Lee Kappmeier-Foust, my father Paulo, a holistic health lover, and my beautiful daughter Sueli Bruni Gwiazdowski- the best teacher I’ve ever had.
