Conversations with Rachel Alexandria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Alexandria.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was an admin assistant for a few years, but feeling dissatisfied with my life. After wrestling with that awareness, I spent a long time in a sort of meditation about what I wanted to actually do with my life.

And I realized the truth that I wanted to help people live better lives and see the truth about who they really are. So I went back to grad school and became a psychotherapist. And I did that for about eight years before I really saw that I needed to make some adjustments in how I work, and how I could support people. I wanted to get out of the medical model, and really fully incorporate my spiritual understandings and support. There’s a lot that I have learned about metaphysics, like how we interact with the world and what we believe and how that shapes what we experience. So I let go of my license and shifted to what I call being a Soul Medic and Guide.

I get to walk with people more significantly in their ongoing journeys of transformation now and see them into promotions and identity shifts and huge releasing of burdens. It’s incredible work.

And I get it because I’ve done it myself. Both of my career changes were both really significant transformations of my life. And each time required a big leap of faith, but I’m so grateful that it’s been so fulfilling for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, I don’t think any significant change is going to be a smooth road. I no longer expect *anything* to be a smooth road. LOL.

The first time I made the shift to becoming a therapist, it caused a real problem in my former marriage. But I knew I had to be true to what felt like it was calling me. And I also knew that the right partner would not be upset by that.

The second change involved letting go of a lot of the stability of my life. I had to let go of my office, and make changes with a lot of my clients, and help them all transition, one way or another. It took some time to be able to describe and market what it is that I do now, since it’s not a commonly understood service: “Guidance.”

And for a while I made less money, which was scary. Both times actually. But I just kept asking Spirit if this was the right path for me. It felt like it was, but I needed reassurance, so I kept asking for signs and support, and one way or another they kept showing up. I don’t think any big life change is ever going to be easy anymore. But I do think that we can ask for support and find miracles along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a few specialities. I have written a book about boundaries and difficult conversations and dealing with conflict. I’m proud of that because conflict used to be something I avoided at all costs…until I found out the long-term effects of not dealing with it. So getting good at handling conflict was a huge leap for me, and I’m able to help other people now communicate more clearly about their needs and boundaries. It just saves so much energy and prevents so much hurt.

Another speciality is a video series I created called Tapping for Your Enneagram Type that combines EFT tapping with relieving the common stresses people of different personality types have.

I lead virtual and in-person Soul Constellations workshops that are all about connecting with past ancestors and releasing multi=generational burdens.

And most recently, I’ve been building awareness about something I’m calling “ghost anxiety,” which is the anxiety we carry (but aren’t aware of) that actually belongs to other people. I’m teaching folks how to *care* about other people without *carrying* their emotional burdens.

So I think what sets me apart from a lot of other therapists and coach types is how much I create to help teach people about how they work and support them in self-mastery.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
So many things. Singing, dancing, chatting with friends, hanging out at the beach, taking naps in the sun, playing frisbee or other games…the list gets long.
