Life & Work with Jennifer Coburn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Coburn.

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started writing articles for newspapers and magazines in my role as the president of the SD chapter of National Organization for Women. I continued freelance writing about social justice issues that interested me and began writing books from there. I’ve written several novels and two non-fiction books and will be launching my debut historical novel in October 2022.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Totally smooth road? Hardly. The road has been paved with rejection letters and tears. It’s the victories along that way that keeps me going. I love hearing from readers and knowing that what I’ve written has meant something to them.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud of my upcoming novel Cradles of the Reich, the story of three very different German women who meet at a Nazi Lebensborn breeding home and change the course of one another’s lives.

It takes place in Germany, 1939. The nation was on the brink of war and Hitler’s top-secret plan to create a “master race” of pure-blooded Aryan babies had recently been launched. I’m very excited about sharing this story with readers.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
In college, I sold encyclopedias door to door.
