Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Turton.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been an interesting one; from dropping out of college several times, to working multiple jobs at a time to get by, to recent years where I found success as a business coach and, to recently, pivoting into the NFT space and being a co-owner of Ciao Ciao Piadina, an Italian restaurant located in La Jolla. When I found out about NFTs in June of 2021, I realized this technology was eventually going to become mainstream so I went all in on learning about the technology and implementing what I have learned with several projects, including being the first independently owned restaurant to drop an NFT project that generates in real-life sales. During my time in the NFT space, I realized that NFT education was very important so I brought that to the forefront with a podcast called Freedom with NFTs, a community dedicated to NFT education, and an NFT Course that covers what an NFT is, how to create an NFT, and how to get involved in the NFT community. I am passionate about this technology because we are in a historical moment of being able to own our data with NFTs.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When mainstream use of the internet happened, which is Web 1, I was a kid living in the suburbs of Dayton, Ohio. I remember when we get our first computer, which I used to play games. I didn’t know to anything more than play games on the computer.
Web 2 is when social media came out and I wasn’t at the forefront of that technology, I simply posted photos of my food. It wasn’t until recent years that I learned to leverage social media for business.
We are in Web 3 right now, which is the ownership of data on the blockchain with NFTs (non-fungible tokens). I have seen history happen before my eyes twice in my life and have said for several years I wasn’t going to miss the next big thing and that I was going to be at the forefront of it.
Which is why I have gone all in on learning about and leveraging NFTs to create new opportunities and revenue streams in my life and business and why I have made it my mission to onboard others into the NFT space safely and so they are supported.
We’ve been impressed with Freedom with NFTs, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Freedom with NFTs is a hub for NFT education and exploration. We offer an NFT Course for people who know nothing about NFTs and want to get informed and involved. Our podcast, under the same name, features NFT gurus who share their experiences, tools, and tips. I am proud to share with you that Gary Vaynerchuk has been a guest on my podcast. In our community, on Discord, called Freedom with NFTs, we offer free weekly trainings on Wednesday at 1 PM PST and a channel for members to ask questions and get support on their NFT journey. Soon, you will find a roster of NFT Consultants on our website that specialize in various areas in the NFT space so that you can get higher levels of support. Our goal at Freedom with NFTs is to make onboarding into the NFT space safe and supportive so that more people can leverage this technology to create new revenue streams and opportunities in their businesses and lives.
