Exploring Life & Business with Stephanie Malak of Privé Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Malak.

Hi Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I´ll share a little bit of my life story; as a child, I always wanted to become an actress and model, but because I used to live in a small city, it was very difficult for me to achieve my dreams.

Since I was a kid, I started working in plays, and at the age of 17 I started modeling & also acting in short films, unfortunately, that year my father died in a terrible accident that took us by surprise, my mom was left with a lot of debts, my mom was desperate, so I started working twice as hard, helping my mom and little brothers have always been one of my goals.

I had to leave my small town to find new work opportunities or start a new job, finally, at 19 years old I managed to sign a contract with a recognized modeling agency in Mexico City and I was able to move in.

I was very happy and excited, I thought I would made a lot of money and despite a lot of work and effort it wasn’t and I had to look for something else. In modeling you meet many businessmen or important people, I wanted to learn from them, I dreamed one day having my own company like those entrepreneurs, in one of the events of my agency I met my husband, a man with many dreams and a lot of experience in business, He always told me that for a business to be successful you needed to find the opportunity at the right time, filling a need that potential customers or prospects had for a product or service.

I always wanted to open a women’s clothing boutique, so I investigated how to import clothes to my country, I made my website, and I started selling dresses in 2017.

I was very sad because I didn’t sell any dresses and I had to give the clothes away.

Then I saw in many pharmacies and on the internet that a facial serum with vitamin C was selling very well, for what I developed a formula of Vitamin C with hyaluronic acid as a differentiator, I invested my money again, and again it was not successful.

I am a vegetarian, so I thought of creating a multivitamin vegetable protein with macha. I made the protein, a nice image and logo. I also started selling it on the internet and to my bad luck there were no sales either.

But it wasn’t going to stop me.

Suddenly in Mexico in the month of March 2020, the pandemic began! Everything stopped, people were fleeing the big city, looking to work remotely in places far from the crowds.

That’s when I saw the great business opportunity, and I thought it was time to offer people that escape, an escape to heavenly places where they can live and work remotely.

I trained and licensed as a real estate agent and opened my own company. I named it “Privé Real Estate”, I made an alliance with other real estate agencies and with developers, I focused only on properties near the most beautiful beaches in Mexico.

To my surprise, the first month I sold my first apartment in Oaxaca, Hutaulco and after two months I achieved a sale worth 1 million dollars!!! The commission was so great that I soon hired 3 people and I advertised myself to attract more clients, within a few days several developers, owners, and agents began looking for Privé Real Estate interested in my company to make alliances.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having no support from anyone… more than my desire to get ahead.

And finally, the biggest challenge was entering the real estate business where they did not believe in me because I was so young, they did not pay attention to me, they did not answer my emails, they did not listen to me, there was no support from them, nor did they give me the opportunity.

It was difficult at first to get her the opportunity in a company led by such a young woman.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
So this is when my successful real estate business started!!!

I began searching for beachfront properties in Yucatán, also in Tulum, and I made my first sales in there! Then I started making strategic alliances in Huatulco and Puerto Escondido located in Oaxaca, and just a week after I sold a house to a Korean client !! I was so happy !! Then I travel all the way down from Mexico City to Los Cabos, and started many meetings in which I closed many joint venture deals, and incredibly just a month after I Sold a beautiful apartment in one of the most exclusive developments known as Viceroy in San Jose del Cabo.

I have been quite successful selling luxury properties to Mexican and foreign investors in Mexico.

My expertise is in premium properties and I always get week by week potential buyers.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
My greatest risk was when I was 19 years old, leaving my city, leaving my home, leaving my family and going to live in one of the most dangerous and largest cities in the world, where I didn’t know anyone.

I had to take that risk in order to get ahead.
