Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Mendoza.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My friends like to say fell into this. Especially, my buddy Ken he says some people are good at photography. He likes to say I was born to do this I’m a natural. Although I wish it came sooner in my life I’m happy this came along. I’m self-thought from gear to software. I’ve put a lot of blood sweat and tears into being who I am today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say smooth I use to jump couch to couch for a few years and I never mentioned it. But I always came from a struggle I had a camera body and one lens for over two years and made it work. I use to edit off of my phone for two years. and I just made it work
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I want to specialize in fashion and editorial photography. More expressive and creative flow. I enjoy working for a whole team with a wardrobe stylist, Hairstylist, makeup artist, and professional talent (model)… I’ve been told the way I capture my subjects is soft yet powerful at the same time. I love bold color and outfits
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Social media is a beautiful tool for inspiration. I subscribe to a few different magazines.
