Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Delgadillo.
Hi Fred, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My photography journey all started when I was a young boy. I used to use my mom’s disposable cameras when we used to go on vacations, it was my favorite thing to do on trips. I used to take blurry pictures with my disposable camera, as one can expect when you’re young. as I got older, I started practicing taking pictures with my uncle’s camera every day until I started seeing results. Fast forward a few years and now take pictures for a living. photography has always been a passion of mine and it wasn’t until a few years ago that I started to fully dedicate my skills to my craft. I could always feel that I had the eye for it. wanting to find different angles in things that you see every day and making those things brand new. Those are the things that I find beautiful in photography when I can take pictures of things a person walks by a million times and turn it into something exciting.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not everything has been smooth throughout my photography journey. When new photographers start out it’s always difficult because it’s hard to find clients to take photographs of, and it can sometimes be discouraging and not want to continue working on your skill. For me, not being able to show people my artistic view of the world can lead me to be tough on myself. I’m the type of person that wants to shine but be humble at the same time. Sometimes starting out on a journey with the wrong tools can make the road even more challenging but I kept working hard on myself to improve and upgrade my skill as a person and as a photographer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My style of photography is portraits, seeing people’s unique faces amazes me. for example, whenever I see an old video of people from the 1900s and wonder how they used to live their lives, the expression on their faces, and what they must have been going through as the video or photo was taken. I have those exact same feelings when I look at new portraits as well, whether I’m looking at my own work or of another photographer that’s on the other side of the world. My most proud work was when I had my first photography client. the joy of seeing my happy with my results was exciting. what sets me apart from others is that I’m a self-taught photographer, I learned the rules of photography but for me, rules are meant to be broken in an art. Taking pictures from a different angle can sometimes lead to great results.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
In my spare time, I also take photos of in-game scenery in video games. I love taking photos of new worlds that haven’t been explored and are only available in the digital world.
