Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Heinly. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Kierra Heinly is a 19-year-old Fitness Entrepreneur, Personal Trainer, Content Creator, and Musician. She is passionately dedicated to teaching others how to optimize their individual human performance, both mentally and physically.
Through sharing her story, Kierra hopes to inspire others to relentlessly pursue their full potential.
“Growing up in a musical and health-conscious family, I quickly took to playing classical instruments and staying active. I fell in love with the violin at age 5, and since then, I have studied privately on a variety of instruments including piano, voice, and French horn.
I fell in love with personal fitness about 6 years ago, at the age of 13. I first started running as my primary source of movement, which quickly progressed into a passion for calisthenics, bodyweight training, HIIT workouts, boxing, swimming, and of course – more running.
All in all, music and fitness have gone hand in hand for me, as I have gained an immense amount of discipline, control, and bodily awareness from both.
It is these core principles which have helped me flourish and thrive in the body I have today – and it is now my life mission to help others find their own sense of individual freedom, specifically through means of movement.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There is no “perfectly smooth road” in any avenue of life worth exploring. There will inevitably be obstacles and hardships along one’s path, but the challenges battled head-on are the greatest periods of personal growth.
I do not believe in the word “mistake,” because it focuses on the negative aspect of a previous action. There is no opportunity for growth when one preaches negative thoughts – negativity only feeds more negativity. Instead, I view all situations as learning opportunities. I believe that there are no “mistakes” in life, only learning opportunities. The only “mistake” one could make is not learning when given the opportunity.
With that being said, some of the hardships I have encountered myself include depression, anxiety, negative self-talk, business startup struggles, and balancing work/home life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Personal Training; however, I do not align with the typical “cookie-cutter” programming most fitness influencers promote.
My creativity and connection with clients is what sets me apart from everyone else in the field. I believe in educating clients how to create their own workout plans, so they do not feel the need to rely on an external source for both motivation and workout plans. This starts by connecting with the client and determining what types of movements feel good to their own body. From there, we create a training plan together combining both cardiovascular and strength training exercises. This way of training not only yields the best physical results, it also produces the greatest mental results.
The power of creativity is found within each and every person, it’s just a matter of learning how to listen to your own body in order to tap into it.
Any big plans?
In the near future, I hope to start a business, aside from Personal Training, which fully encompasses both my passions for music and fitness.
