Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi! My name is Jessica but I go by Jessi. I am originally from Chicago, but currently residing in sunny Oceanside, California. As long as I can remember, I have always been into the realm of beauty. I love how we can enhance our best features that we have and hide those flaws that we don’t want to see. When I was 16 years old, I started working for my first brand, and the rest is history. Here I am some 18 years later, still doing what I love. I have been fortunate enough to travel the globe and have been able to open my own business where I my motto is to “Assist and not to Insist.” At Jessi’s Dolls LLC, I pride myself on bringing what beauty there is naturally out in a way that makes my clients feel comfortable. Life got a little crazy during the pandemic but I am back in action! Let me doll you up for your next special occasion!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With any business, you will always see financial hardships during certain times of the year. Jessi’s Dolls LLC trends with the economy just as any business would. The pandemic was very hard on my business, but 2022 has started out great for business and I hope to continue this growth as best as I can. Great customer service helps with returning clients of course.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think my level of high customer service sets me apart from other artists. I never want my client to feel as if they cannot vocalize any and all concerns when they are in the chair with me. I have a very high return client rate and I think that in itself speaks volumes. I always aim take their vision in their mind and bring it to life. I do a lot of work for boudoir photo shoots and it is important to me to make my clients feel comfortable for their upcoming shoots. When I do weddings, I always tell my brides, anything why need to let me know, whether it is a whisper in the ear about something, water, a music change, or just peace and quiet, I got them! Family photo shoots, it is your time to get ready and relax before you get everyone else ready! Couples’ shoots… let’s zen out before we get our other half ready! Ball time or formal occasion, your hair will stay put! Shake that head afterwords so we know where to put extra bobby pins so you can hit the dance floor without worrying about bobby pins.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I always had eyes too big for my head and super fair skin. I always wanted to make them look smaller… crazy right? That is where my business name from. My nickname is Jessi Doll. I have always been into color theory, mixing patterns, and just all kinds of colors in general.
