Meet Lindsay Anthony of Lately Collective

Hi Lindsay, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
After graduating college in 2008 with no PR jobs to be found (thank you, recession), I found myself selling payroll door to door. While this afforded me a flexible and lucrative career for a 21-year-old (and some incentive trips!), it was not creatively fulfilling. Fast forward a few years later, I was working in another sales role and got laid off. That’s when I decided to try again in the PR world and found myself an internship at Formula PR (now Havas Formula).

At Formula, I worked mainly on national food and beverage brands and grew my storytelling chops under some of the brightest in the business. From there, I went to a PR shop in Little Italy – Olive PR – which let me see the inner workings of a small business and get to know the local PR scene. I boomeranged back to Formula a year and half later, helping to lead the consumer team. After making my way up to Director, working with some of the coolest food and beverage brands around, a pandemic, and having two babies, it was time for me to spread my wings and start my own business…and so in April 2021, Lately was born!

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Naturally, I was worried about starting my own business (how would I get clients? what if those clients leave? what if I make no money? what if this is all a huge mistake?!), but I just went for it. I started spreading the word that I was freelancing, and one client quickly turned into a few. Something I hadn’t anticipated was the growth of our content creator division.

Because my background is in traditional PR/earned media and working with influencers on THAT side, I didn’t really know the first thing about working with them to manage THEIR collabs. However, it turned out to be the most natural fit. What I thought would be challenging has turned out to be an amazing piece of the business that continues to boom.

Something else that is challenging (obviously) is wearing a million hats every single day. I am HR director, finance guru, social media manager, PR account lead, and talent manager all within the same 1 hour.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Lately is more than just a company – it’s a group of connectors and storytellers. From pitching brands to relevant media to pitching content creators to the brands of their dreams and forging relationships wherever we go, Lately is the intersection of brands and the public eye. We pride ourselves on being authentic, transparent, and creative. We’re also woman-and-mama owned and operated.

How do you define success?
Success to us is easy: happy clients and a happy team.
