Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Auchard.
Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a San Diego-based Creative Producer, Filmmaker who collaborates with brands, production companies, and creative agencies on commercials, documentary series, and other forms of branded content.
Starting out I landed a producing job right out of college. I had incredible mentors who taught me a lot about the production process & filmmaking, particularly one Director, Writer, Producer who I got to work with daily. I’m honored to now call them friends and still get the chance to work with them today.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a relatively smooth road. There are always challenges along the way, but I feel very fortunate for the opportunities I’ve had professionally. I have also found a lot of support and inspiration from fellow filmmakers. Film is a very competitive space, but the amount of market growth I’ve witnessed in my 7 years as an industry member has left me optimistic for the future. It seems brands/businesses of all sizes have been investing more in video as part of their marketing strategy as years go on.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Creative Producer, I’m generally involved in a project from inception to completion. My responsibilities can range from scripting, developing treatments, storyboarding, budgeting/bidding, scheduling, sourcing crew, contracts, casting, location scouting, production management, and post-production.
Filmmaking is very much so a team effort. One of my favorite parts of the job is the constant collaboration I get to do with others and seeing it all come together on screen.
Remaining curious and being open to trying new things keeps work engaging. I’m always striving to continually learn as I progress in my career.
