Check Out Leslie Sharman’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Sharman.

Hi Leslie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Carlsbad. I have been doing hair for 12 years. For the first 10 years of my career, I worked at a large salon where I became creative director. Eventually, I wanted to create my own team and vision so I left that salon during the Covid shutdowns and started my own small studio. We have a team of 5 now and we love it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say starting my own salon was the most challenging. Obstacles are just part of the journey. Some are bigger than others but you gotta keep going. The beginning of our journey started with Covid so now it feels like if we can make it through that we can do anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating hair that looks naturally beautiful, like nature would create, enhances natural features like eyes, and photographs flawlessly.

I would say the thing I am most proud of is the assistants that I have trained. Seeing how successful and skillful they are at their crafts is so fulfilling.

I would say what sets me apart from others is the way I care about my clients. There are so many options for capable hair stylists around us, so I am grateful my clients choose me. I really want to make my clients feel special. I also know you are only as good as your last hair color.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
This is an interesting one to answer. I would say that in reality, I’m a pretty non-emotional person. I can feel everything but I tend to be non-emotional about the things around me. I always have to be aware that when I feel something it’s usually not my own emotions but other peoples.
