Today we’d like to introduce you to Osob Omar.
Hi Osob, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Osob Omar a thirty years old mother of two beautiful boys, I’m a wife and a daughter. I have always had a love for self-care and self-reflection, I was in seventh grade when I started going out on solo dates. Those dates turned into tools that became necessary later on in life. I used to volunteer at a non-profit organization whose goal was to keep immigrant kids out of the streets and in schools by bridging the gap that caused a disconnect between them and their caregivers. I then used those same tools to help empower children who were trying to find their place in life. I volunteered for sixteen years and picked up a couple more tools. Finally my husband encouraged me to start a business that combines the things I love the most which was 1. helping people better understand themselves and 2. skincare. There is so much behind Meliora that it’s more than just skincare its using skincare to push self-love. Meliora is a dream in which I was unintentionally preparing for since my youth and last but not least Meliora is my mother’s sacrifice not going in vain.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I went into this completely blind! I once was having a conversation with a very good friend who is a four-generation Italian American and I was explaining to her how being first-generation means you are setting the tiles for the generations to come. My mother doesn’t have a friend from high school who has a business that she can connect me with. That being said, I am figuring it all out on my own and it is one of the most gratifying and overwhelming things I have ever done. I remind myself that this is the American dream, it’s the humble beginnings and being able to make a name for yourself. I am still learning so every day has an obstacle as well as a whole bunch of wins.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Meliora Essence is a self-care self-wellness brand that specializes in skincare made with natural ingredients. The word Meliora actually is Latin for the “pursuit of betterness” because we believe you should always be bettering yourself whether it’s emotionally, physically or spiritually. We sell a variety of skincare products which make you feel as good as they will have you looking. There is a plethora of things one can do that drastically improves their mood; such as getting fresh air, exercise, and what we like to tackle which is all things shower. We have a package deal that includes four of our five products and you get to choose which scent you would like it in, the package is called “Ipsum” which means “self-love” in Latin. Each package also includes a questionnaire which tackles the hard questions we should know about ourselves but don’t know how to ask. Also, if you ever meet us at our local vending events we give free samples of the entire experience, we have a setup that allows you to wash your hands and use our products right there and see for yourself what the hype is about. I call this “dating” because we let you date our products before you marry them. I am proud of my brand because there is none like it, I combined my two favorite passions and am now sharing the beauty of self-love with the world in my own unique way.
What do you think about luck?
I feel as if I am extremely lucky because I always happen to meet the right people to answer my questions when I’m faced with a new obstacle, also I have a support system like no other. I have a husband who is my biggest cheerleader and tells me that he’s proud of me after every event, I have a best friend that will make time for all my events in her busy schedule so she can help. I have two brothers who have their own businesses but will always drop everything to see me through, one brother has taken part in naming most of my products and the other is my primary babysitter and I have a sister-in-law who once flew in from out of state to come and babysit for a day because I couldn’t find help. I am blessed because of the people who hold me up, I am lucky because you are as strong as your team and my team has the strength of the incredible hulk.
