Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Faherty.
Sarah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first got interested in real estate when I purchased my first condo when I was 24 years old. I’m a Veteran of the US Armed Forces, and was able to use my VA loan to purchase with zero money down. I had previously been renting and not seeing anything as a return on what I was spending on rent. Having the VA loan available to me made it an easy decision for me to buy. As I watched my first condo appreciate, I started to see real estate as an excellent investment tool. When I left the Military, I decided that I wanted to help others invest in their future through buying and selling residential real estate. Our company helps a wide range of clients from seasoned investors who want to build their real estate portfolio, to first time buyers and Veterans.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting into real estate means wearing many different hats, especially when you first start out. The learning curve is steep to be successful in it, and the attrition rate is high. It’s not hard to get your real estate license, but you have to be innovative, and have true entrepreneurial grit to push past the initial struggle. Surrounding yourself with the right people is essential to success, and I’ve been fortunate to surround myself with the best. I have the utmost gratitude for being able to work and grow with our agents at Welcome to San Diego Real Estate, and have the best mentor possible working alongside Chad Dannecker.
Faherty & Associates – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We often have several off market listings so we’re able to help our buyers find properties that they wouldn’t be able to find otherwise. We mostly specialize in the Downtown area, which allows us to be true subject matter experts in our area, as San Diego county is very large.
We’re able to give our clients the competitive edge by always having our finger on the pulse of what’s going on. We know the space, and all of the players, so we can easily identify a good deal, and know how to market to our area. I personally also have a real passion for helping Veterans as a Veteran myself, and have started offering free seminars to educate Veterans on how to utilize their VA loans to purchase with zero money down, allowing them to own a piece of the Country they work so hard to protect.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Personally, my proudest moments are marrying my best friend and love of my life, and seeing our three kids faces light up.
Professionally, my proudest moment is every moment I’m able to help another client invest in their future, and realize their dream of homeownership.
