Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Humphrey.
Hi Brandy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The last time I was featured here (2017), I was a makeup artist with MAC Cosmetics. In 2019 I felt like my life needed to take a different direction. As silly as this may sound, I decided to go to Barnes and Noble to find a self-help book and see if that would help me figure out where I wanted to go next. While I browsed the aisle, I found a misplaced tarot deck and fell in love with it. I was new to the world of tarot reading, and after practicing on some friends and coworkers who said that my interpretations were spot on, I decided to start giving readings online via Twitter. After some time, I starting gaining a larger following and decided to open up an online store to keep up with my bookings. Once COVID happened, I decided to pursue tarot reading as a full-time career.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Ironically enough things were easier during COVID. My business operates online, and when everything was shut down more people were on their laptops and phones. Having to readjust to traffic expectations as everything opened up again was challenging, but I also took advantage of the opportunity to start participating in pop-up markets.
We’ve been impressed with Sailor Star Store, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sailor Star Store is a metaphysical shop that specializes in tarot readings and crystal healing.
Any big plans?
I would love to eventually open up a storefront in San Diego that would accompany my online store. For now, I’m organizing a few pop-up markets in 2023 that will showcase other vendors in the area as well, so look out for that!
