Today we’d like to introduce you to Dots One.
Hello Dots One, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dots started as a nickname in 2010 but I officially first started introducing myself as Dots when I started doing art shows back in 2012, with my first big show with Ruben Torres and The Heart of Lucha. Since then, I’ve established my name as Dots One and have created a brand name where I connect my services such as art, graphic design, healing thru tarot readings and digital aura readings, pop-up vending where I display my art and jewelry. I also extend services to my job at Inscriptu, a local print shop based out of City Heights where I work as a printer and graphic designer. I love connecting the dots for friends and community members that are taking next steps to up their brands and names!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Definitely no smooth roads for an artist. Period. The struggle is REAL! But it motivates me on the daily to keep pushing and chasing that dream. No one else is going to do the grunt work for you but YOU! One thing I love about art is that it’s always there. No matter what. At least in my life it is. Eat, sleep, breath, sweat, and cry art. I wouldn’t have it any other way to be honest. If I’m not working on my art, I’m helping someone with theirs!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work at Inscriptu, a local print shop in City Heights, San Diego. I’ve known Clyde, Micheal, and Anoki since 2018, where I got introduced to The Urban Art Shop and a branch of Inscriptu.
I became an artist under UAS in 2019, while utilizing Inscriptu to print my stickers, prints, and laser-engraved mugs.
Flash forward to the end of 2020, the boys give me the greatest opportunity of my art life, a career in my element. Printing, an even bigger connection to offer to my community.
We do it all! From business cards, die-cut stickers (ask about our holographic vinyls), banners, magnets, storefront signage, you name it we will connect you to whatcha need!
I’ve expanded and evolved my graphic design thru working here. I’m most proud of being able to help the Hispanic community with printing needs because a lot of them get discouraged when they can’t explain what they need and the sigh of relief when I start speaking in Spanish makes me feel accomplished.
What do you think about happiness?
Seeing the people, I love makes me happy. Helping my community makes me happy. Helping friends chase their dreams and accomplish milestones in their business makes me happy. Helping family members out makes me happy.
