Hi Jen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in San Diego, I have always had a passion for the beauty industry. At the age of 19, I made the decision to pursue my dreams and moved to Los Angeles to enroll in the prestigious Makeup Designory in Burbank. This intensive program allowed me to specialize in special effects makeup for film as well as beauty makeup for various platforms such as print, film, runway, and weddings.
After three successful years as a professional makeup artist, I made a career shift and decided to explore the world of business and accounting for added stability. Graduating from San Diego State University with a degree in business and accounting, I spent the next decade immersed in number crunching and spreadsheets. However, I never let go of my passion for beauty and continued to work as an on-call makeup artist for beauty pageants, weddings, and special events.
Deep down, I always knew that the beauty industry was where I truly belonged. In 2020, I completed an aesthetics program at San Diego City College, which reignited my passion and propelled my business forward. Since then, I have specialized in lash extensions, facials, chemical peels, and makeup artistry.
With my diverse background in both makeup artistry and business, I bring a unique perspective to my clients. I am dedicated to providing top-notch services, using my creative skills and knowledge of skincare to enhance natural beauty and boost confidence. The journey may have taken a few detours, but I have finally found my calling and am excited to continue growing and evolving in the beauty industry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my career, I encountered various hurdles and faced challenges that tested my resilience and determination. Here are a few notable hurdles I overcame:
* Transitioning from Makeup Artistry to a 9-to-5 Job: This transition meant putting my independent career on hold and embracing a traditional 9-to-5 job. It was a challenging adjustment, as I had to shift my focus and adapt to a completely different work environment.
* Balancing Career and Passion: While working as an accountant, I always kept my professional beauty skills alive. However, finding a balance between my full-time job and pursuing my passion was a constant struggle. It required meticulous planning, time management, and dedication to ensure I could continue honing my skills and maintaining my connection to the beauty industry.
* Rebuilding My Beauty Business: Despite temporarily veering away from the beauty industry, I never lost sight of my dream. rebuilding my business from scratch and gaining recognition in a highly competitive industry presented its own set of challenges. I had to establish a client base, promote my services, and build a strong reputation within the local beauty community.
* Overcoming Industry Shifts: The beauty industry is dynamic and ever-evolving. Trends, techniques, and customer preferences change rapidly. Staying up to date with the latest advancements, continuously expanding my skill set, and adapting to new trends proved to be a constant challenge. However, through ongoing education, attending workshops, conferences, and trainings, and staying connected with industry professionals, I was able to navigate these shifts and stay relevant in the beauty industry.
Despite these hurdles, I persevered and remained dedicated to my passion for beauty. Each challenge I faced helped shape my skills, character, and resilience. Overcoming these obstacles has not only strengthened my professional journey but also reinforced my commitment to delivering exceptional beauty services to my clients.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
One of my most cherished childhood memories takes me back to my toddler years. I would sit and observe my aunt, mother, older cousin, and sister as they skillfully applied makeup. If I wasn’t busy raiding my grandmother’s closet for dress-up sessions, I would be found in the bathroom, searching for makeup to experiment with.
Being part of a family with an artistic gene, I recall my cousin beautifully doing my makeup, recreating the whimsical elves she would paint with watercolors. This experience ignited my own creative passion, and throughout high school, I found joy in doing my friends’ makeup and experimenting with hair coloring.
