Conversations with Anel Mancilla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anel Mancilla.

Anel Mancilla

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in the US, but my childhood was spent in Tijuana. It was at the age of 14 that I returned to the US to complete my general education. Throughout my life, I’ve been driven by a deep passion for personal growth and patience. Right after high school at the age of 18, I embarked on a journey of working with children. This experience taught me the importance of being fully present and nurturing new habits in the younger generation. Although I found fulfillment in this work, life presented me with a path to discover a profound sense of mindfulness through my body- YOGA.

As I immersed myself in yoga, I came to realize that there is an inner child within each of us, longing for exploration and nurturing. This realization sparked a fusion of my love for yoga and inner child work, infusing my practice with a newfound purpose.

In September 2022, with the loving support of my parents, I made the decision to pursue a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) certification. This comprehensive training encompassed C1 and Yoga Sculpt formats, empowering me with the necessary tools to serve the vibrant yoga community at Core Power Yoga and Yoga Lab, as well through my own semi-private and private sessions.

Devoting my time and energy to building a community of healthy, strong, and mindful individuals has become my life’s calling.

Witnessing people challenge themselves, redefine their boundaries, and develop a harmonious relationship with their mind, body, and emotions fills me with immense purpose and joy.

Yoga Empowers the human collective by embracing our creative self-expression.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Throughout my journey, I encountered obstacles that made the road less smooth. As a person of color and English being my second language, I faced unique challenges. However, these struggles ultimately helped me grown and become more comfortable in my own skin. Teaching also played a significant role in making me feel at ease with my second language.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in sculpt, Yoga with weights, and I am known for being an encouraging and nurturing instructor. I take pride in creating a fun and welcoming environment where everyone’s needs are met.

What sets me apart is my love for music and movement, and my ability to fuse rhythm, breath, and strength into a dynamic experience.
