Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Bennett.
Hi Steven, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my career in engineering and worked into a career in biotech and pharma. In my 30s, I went back to graduate school and received my Doctor of Chiropractic (DC). After graduation, I started practice in 2008 in Solana Beach, where I focused on Sports Chiropractic and Functional Medicine. In 2019, I started my nutritional supplement company Intuitive Nutrients. In 2023, I started my latest company as well, a diagnostic testing company called CardioMetaboliQ LLC.
CardioMetaboliQ was born out of a need that I saw in practice and in the research to provide better diagnostic testing for some of the most prevalent chronic conditions in our population, namely Fatty Liver, Diabetes, Heart Disease, and Metabolic Disease. Traditional lab testing generally fails to provide the most current test data into these diseases, rather it is based on test panels designed 40 years ago.
Currently, we are introducing our flagship test, the CardioMetaboliQ Home Blood Test. We see this test as an excellent means to raise awareness of these chronic diseases well in advance of traditional testing, allowing people to make the appropriate lifestyle changes early, avoiding costly and painful worsening of these diseases.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t know if anyone’s path is smooth, especially as we work to find our passion in life. As an engineer working in pharma and biotech, I knew there was much more that I wanted from life. I suppose that striking out on my own in the business of building a practice and then building a couple of businesses, there have been plenty of daunting challenges…when it’s just you, it can get a little lonely and frankly a little scary.
But, if you really enjoy the work that you’ve chosen, you will find it easier to get up day after day and re-dedicate yourself to making progress. So, it’s far from easy, but it’s very rewarding to build something all by yourself that turns into a successful enterprise.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about CardioMetaboliQ LLC?
CardioMetaboliQ is a healthcare diagnostic company with a twist. We offer lab diagnostic products; however, we pride ourselves on our testing being designed with integrative health being top of mind.
As an example, many people get a standard blood panel with their annual physical through their primary care provider. While this testing has valuable information regarding the patient’s health, it is often poorly explained to the user, and routine labs leave a substantial amount of the patient’s health unexamined.
Cholesterol testing is one of several ways to illustrate this. A routine blood panel reports LDL, HDL, Total Cholesterol, and Triglycerides. Generally, a primary care physician will look to see that these levels are within the “standard” range and perhaps suggest lowering them if they are outside the normal range.
One problem with that approach is that there is a wide variation in health risk, even within the “standard” range. And the user is made aware of this, they’re told they are “normal” or healthy when there may be risk that should be discussed. Additionally, these standard data can yield even greater insight if they are combined in index calculations with other test values.
This more thorough approach makes it possible to understand the patient’s health and health risks in a much more nuanced and effective manner.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Well, I essentially live on Pubmed (Pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)! I’m joking of course, but I do spend countless hours researching on this site as it contains ALL peer-reviewed scientific (medical) research. Here, I find the latest in heart disease research, fatty liver disease, diabetes, nutritional ingredient research, etc. This research was critical in creating the test and health report for the CardioMetaboliQ test.
As we are 100% evidence-based in our testing and nutritional supplementation, Pubmed is a “bible” of sorts for our company. If data isn’t peer-reviewed, it can be dubious. We take our job of giving insight and guidance to our users extremely seriously; people’s health is our mission.
