Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Allick.
Brenda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young girl I was always interested in make-up and hair. My earliest memories are of being the model for my older sister who received her cosmetology license. I was also obsessed with styling my dad’s crazy, thick, curly hair. Playing with curlers, make up and dressing up was my play time. This passion lead me to work in retail clothes, cosmetics and luxury goods. In 1989, I moved to San Diego to attend SDSU. When I needed facials, brow waxing, or other services, I struggled to find the right person. It was at that point, I realized I needed to pursue my passion. I graduated shortly thereafter from Je Boutique in El Cajon.
I began my career at the Kona Kai in Point Loma in 1998. My professional journey has included Anastasia of Beverly Hills in La Jolla, Alexander Cosmetics in La Jolla, The Bridges at Rancho Sante Fe, and DK Hair in Hillcrest. After a variety of experiences and years of ongoing education, I decided to open my own business. I wanted to put the training and certifications from ARCONA, Rhonda Allison, 302 Skincare, Epicuren, Image coupled with more advanced medical treatments.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was fortunate to have come from a family that instilled a belief that nothing was impossible. I have always believed that if a person wants something, or to do something, nothing can stand in the way. My road was not always a smooth; however, I am a very optimistic person, and never gave up.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Skintastick – Brows by Brenda Allick – what should we know?
My business is SKINTASTICK-Brows by Brenda Allick. I am a licensed Medical Esthetician. I specialize in Brow shaping, Tinting as well as educating people about skincare. Event make up and creating services for anti-aging are two of my well known services. I am currently enjoying the anti-aging successes and skin transformations from Micro-needling and Dermaplaning.
I am known for my sense of humor, and proactive approach in working with skin challenges. I know looking and feeling your best is important. I also know life is busy, therefore, I am flexible to meet the needs of my clients. I believe the care and attention I provide to each and every client sets me apart from other Estheticians.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My flexible schedule, ability to listen and understand clients’ needs in a short appointment time and deliver results are some of my strengths. I provide a stress free environment, where client concerns and time are most valuable.
The vast skin and product education/training I’ve received would garner higher priced services, but that is not my priority. I offer tailored services at affordable rates.
