Meet Mike Eastin of Eastin Realty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Eastin.

Mike Eastin

Hi Mike, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I come from a family of business owners. My dad and both of my brothers also own their own businesses. From a young age, I’ve always had a strong work ethic and a desire to be my own boss. As I got older and had children of my own, this became even more clear. I wanted to be able to provide a comfortable life for my family, while at the same time being present in their lives.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not even close. Ask any small business owner, and they’ll tell you there’s a reason not everyone does what we do. While there are major advantages to being your own boss, it’s not without its challenges.

For me, one of the biggest struggles was keeping a positive mindset in the face of obstacles. It takes so much time and effort to build a brand, market yourself properly, sharpen your skills, and gather clientele. Doing this while initially struggling financially, makes every disappointment or missed opportunity feel like a gut punch.

We had almost no income for over a year. Because of that, my family and I had to go without basic necessities while I put in the sweat equity to get my business off the ground. With our three young kids, my wife and I had to share one car. for a year. We were forced to rack up credit card debt just to pay the bills. We went through some pretty dark days where we questioned whether or not this would all be worth it in the end.

As you know, we’re big fans of Eastin Realty. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a Realtor in Southern California. I specialize in residential real estate for both buyers and sellers.

In an industry that is flooded with competition, it’s so important to set yourself apart from everyone else in the game. In general, I think Realtors have a reputation for being more concerned with making money and less about the needs of their clients. Because of that, a lot of the information out there is very one-sided.

I decided early on that I wanted to be a source of valuable information for people – even if that meant sharing bad news with potential clients. People want someone that is going to be honest and transparent with them.

For me, it’s more important to build and maintain a reputation of being trustworthy and honest, than it is to make a quick buck. A good real estate agent should care more about relationships than revenue. Because without the relationships, you eventually end up with nothing.

I’d love my future clients to know that when they choose to work with me, they are always going to get the absolute best from me because I expect the best from myself. I approach nothing halfway. They’re also going to get a genuine, down-to-earth guy who’s going to go to bat for them every step of the way.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Oh man… I didn’t see this question coming. I was honestly a pretty shy kid. It’s funny because most people think of realtors as being these super talkative, outgoing kids. I was the exact opposite – perfectly content as a wallflower. I loved to read, draw, play piano – all things that involved zero interaction with others.

However, I did grow up as the middle child with two brothers. So, as you can imagine, my childhood was also full of non-stop fun, sports, and adventure. As I reached adulthood, I really started to come out of my shell. I realized that I actually enjoyed interacting with people and that others responded well to me. Today, I pride myself on my people skills and my ability to communicate with just about anyone.
