Inspiring Conversations with Jelena Delibasic of Ela’s Crepes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelena Delibasic.

Jelena Delibasic

Hi Jelena, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Five years ago, an opportunity came to take over a crepe business, and I took it and turned it into Ela’s Crepes, named after my youngest daughter. Over the years I’ve rebranded it and made it my own, changing the name and making the quality the best it can be. I worked towards providing my community and the surrounding areas with the best crepes, through hard work and dedication to the quality of my items. In my opinion quality over quantity should be priority for any business endeavors. I began with working only two farmers markets to expanding and branching out to multiple markets and catering.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It started out smooth, but then COVID-19 had different plans. Not only were people scared to leave their houses therefore reducing the amount of customers that would come but it also raised the prices of materials which then caused another obstacle which was having to raise our prices without being unfair to our customers. But in the end of the day this was not a challenge I faced alone, I believe we all had to change and adapt as a society.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ela’s Crepes is my small local business in Vista, California that services Vista and the surrounding areas. We provide our community with the highest quality crepes through catering, farmers markets, and festivals. We specialize in catering for events no matter the size providing the best experience for our customers. We are known for the variety of flavors and inclusivity we provide for our customers. We serve 29 different crepe flavors and provide batters that accommodate all dietary restrictions, our batters include regular, gluten free, and vegan. We always try to accommodate our customers needs to the best of our abilities whether it is their dietary choices or their event size and needs. I am most proud of is the quality of the crepes which are all made from scratch, and to order making them fresh for each customer. I want the readers to know that we offer a variety of catering services for any of their event needs, no matter the size of the event we are prepared to come and serve everyone with the highest quality crepes both sweet and savory.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was going to Montenegro with my whole family including all my cousins. This is one of my favorite memories because it was so special to be to be surrounded with all of the people I love and care for. Everyday we went down to the beach and played for hours and hours until our parents forced us back to the hotel to eat and take a nap. Right when we woke up we were back outside playing.
