Meet Jess and Jeanette N/A of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess and Jeanette N/A

Hi Jess and Jeanette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Unseen Beaches evolved from our childhood summer beach vacations, filled with simple yet cherished moments like homemade sandwiches, watermelon feasts, and BBQ bonfires. Our humble family vacations taught us invaluable lessons about the beauty of the sea and the importance of bonding with loved ones. As we grew older, we ventured along the coastlines of San Diego and Northern California. Now, we often travel with our dog, Tutu, continuing our tradition of beach adventures.

These cherished moments inspired us to create Unseen Beaches, a dedicated resource for solo female travelers and those exploring with their dogs. What began as a platform to share our favorite beach destinations, safety tips, and travel advice has evolved into a comprehensive guide featuring detailed beach reviews, activity recommendations, and resources for dog-friendly travel. Our mission is to inspire and empower women to embark on solo beach adventures and explore places in San Diego, fostering a sense of freedom, empowerment, and global connectivity.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey with Unseen Beaches started with a shared passion for beach travel from our childhood memories. Initially, we struggled to identify our audience, realizing we couldn’t relate to family travel content since we don’t have kids. My sister and I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, and kayaking at the beach, but we’re not surfers. We love catching sunsets and hunting for local ice cream shops.

Current challenges include traveling with our dog. Finding dog-friendly and safe beaches in San Diego is essential. For instance, at Ocean Beach, I recently had to wrestle with another dog to retrieve my dog’s toy during fetch. Traveling has taught us a lot about getting out of our comfort zones and connecting with people who share the same exploration and travel experiences. At the end of the day, as humans, we grow through these connections and shared adventures, making each journey an opportunity for growth and discovery.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Unseen Beaches, we specialize in creating comprehensive guides for solo female travelers and those exploring with their dogs. Our work involves detailed beach reviews, activity recommendations, and resources for dog-friendly travel, with a focus on safety tips and hidden coastal gems.

We are known for our authentic and personal approach to travel blogging, drawing from our own experiences and adventures. What sets us apart is our dedication to inspiring and empowering women to embark on solo beach adventures, fostering a sense of freedom, empowerment, and global connectivity.

We are most proud of how our bonding time with our family has instilled a deep sense of protectiveness and commitment to preserving the ocean and environment. Our childhood memories taught us the importance of taking time to appreciate and foster relationships with those who truly matter. This has become a core value in our work, promoting not only exploration but also conservation and meaningful connections.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was waiting by the door for my dad to come home from work. Every day, he would pull out treats from his pocket. Some days it would be gummy bears, other days Lifesavers or other candies. This routine was always exciting for my two sisters and me. It taught us to appreciate and cherish the simple joys and the importance of family bonding. These moments instilled in us the value of small, thoughtful gestures and the happiness they bring.
