Hi Jacob, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After serving six years in the US Navy, I came to understand the profound importance of self-care. My personal wellness journey led me to discover red light therapy, which sparked a genuine passion within me. This passion inspired me to create Deep Wave—a welcoming space where anyone can prioritize their well-being without the pretension often associated with wellness businesses.
Starting Deep Wave was a huge undertaking for myself, I had no prior experience in the service industry so I dedicated countless hours to research and development. I poured my heart and soul into ensuring that our equipment matched the standards of the most advanced med spas while keeping treatments affordable. My goal was simple: to make wellness accessible to everyone without compromising on quality.
Deep Wave began with a single service—full-body LightStim red light therapy. Over time, we expanded to include infrared sauna services, another light-based therapy beneficial for virtually everyone. Our treatments are unique in San Diego because we use high-quality equipment found in med spas but offer our services at reasonable prices. We focus on honorable business practices, with no contracts, and our memberships make routine wellness treatments affordable.
A key milestone for us was being voted Favorite Health and Wellness in the 2024 College Area Choice Awards. This recognition was humbling and validated our hard work and commitment to the community. The unwavering support of our members has been instrumental in our success, and their appreciation motivates us to continuously improve.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting Deep Wave was filled with challenges and uncertainties. I had to learn everything from scratch, which may have gave me an advantage by allowing myself to decide on my own how I could best serve my customers, but that also came with a huge amount of unknown variables. Despite these struggles, the unwavering support and appreciation from our members have been incredibly motivating. Seeing the positive impact our treatments have on their lives has made all the hard work worthwhile. Each challenge faced has strengthened my resolve to continue improving and growing Deep Wave.
