Hi girls who putt, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Girls Who Putt was founded with the intention of female friendships in mind. With golf being a sport dominated by men, Co-founders Amy, Lauren, and Victoria, realized there was not a safe space for women to play golf without feeling intimidated while also making new friendships.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road but it has been a fun one! Anything that is just beginning has challenges and opportunities to spot pain points. We realized that much more planning needs to be involved and we need MEMBER feedback to tell us what they like and they don’t. Members cultivate the entire group! Without them we don’t exist. Fostering to our members is a huge importance to us and a challenge we have to overcome daily!!!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
With the three of us, our work through Girls Who Putt combines a lot of what we do in our careers into our golf brand. Amy & Victoria work in commercial real estate which is a very personable and connection oriented field while Lauren works heavily in marketing which makes the trio a strong team in both the digital and event space.
The three of us are able to connect with our members on a personal 1:1 level while also being able to capture memories and showcase them to new members looking for the same objectives: to meet new girl friends and learn golf!
What sets our group apart in comparison to any others is our attention to the members. I think the three of us have all felt what it’s like to not be included or like an outcast, and that is the opposite of what we would want any of our members to feel. Our founders actually met through a social group, so they absolutely believe in the community building behind what clubs can do and have social proof of what can come out of it. At Girls Who Putt, we aspire to build a community of genuine friendships between girls and also get to golf as the bonus!
