Hi Brittney, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins with over a decade of experience in recruitment, where I specialized in IT and InfoSec, helping companies’ source diverse talent while emphasizing DEI initiatives. Over the years, I honed my skills across various industries, working with major firms like BCBSFL, Catalent, Priceline, Conga, and Deutsche Bank, to name a few, gaining expertise in full cycle hiring and talent pipeline development.
My journey took a pivotal turn when I founded my own firm, Source2hire, with the mission to connect top-tier talent with companies seeking expertise across a wide range of roles, from executive search and IT to high-volume hiring. My goal has always been to help companies find the right fit while maintaining a commitment to diversity, equity, and long-term success.
Parallel to my professional career, I also co-founded a San Diego-based nonprofit, Just Remember, after the unexpected and devastating loss of my son in late 2018. This nonprofit has become a vital part of my life, focusing on helping families and law enforcement personnel navigate loss and trauma. This personal tragedy inspired me to create a space for healing and support for others navigating grief.
I was raised in San Diego, CA, since the age of 5, so this is home. Having a passion for giving back to the community I grew up in shines through my nonprofit’s mission, which also extends to sponsoring young athletes in need. Since its inception, Just Remember has grown into a vital resource in the San Diego area, hosting annual events like our Charity Gala, which is set for October 5th this year at the US Grant to raise awareness and funds for these causes. The nonprofit has become a key pillar in my life, allowing me to channel my grief into a source of strength, hope, and advocacy for others facing loss.
All donations raised go right back into the community. Donated funds help provide care packages, facilitate support groups for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and families with a licensed therapist specializing in grief, and fund monthly events for families grieving the loss of a child. Additionally, a portion of the donations goes into the Just Remember Scholarship Fund, aimed at providing scholarships to youth athletes so they can further JR’s memory and passion for competition. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and like many meaningful journeys, it has come with its share of challenges. Professionally, transitioning from working within large corporations to starting my own staffing firm, Source2hire, brought a steep learning curve. Navigating the complexities of building a business—particularly one centered on DEI in a competitive, ever-evolving industry like IT and InfoSec—meant tackling everything from sourcing the right talent to establishing my firm’s reputation while staying true to my values of equity and inclusion.
Balancing the growth of Source2hire with the deep emotional toll of personal loss was one of the most profound challenges. After the unexpected passing of my son, I co-founded Just Remember, a nonprofit to help others navigate grief, trauma, and loss. Channeling my grief into something positive came with immense emotional struggles, and creating the nonprofit took both strength and vulnerability. Organizing events, securing funding, and connecting with families and law enforcement professionals facing trauma are all rewarding but emotionally heavy tasks.
Through it all, maintaining balance between my business, nonprofit work, and personal life required resilience and perseverance. Every challenge, from personal loss to professional hurdles, became an opportunity for growth, shaping who I am today—both as a leader in my field and as a community advocate.
