Elisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started with five life-changing years in the Army. While I was deeply committed to my role, I always felt there was something more—something beyond military service. As a mother of five, I longed for more time with my kids and a way to make a lasting impact on those around me.
After leaving the Army and moving into corporate America, I noticed a big gap in leadership development. There wasn’t enough training or support to help people become exceptional leaders. On top of that, I saw how many veterans, myself included, struggled to find direction after leaving active duty.
That realization sparked my entrepreneurial journey. I set out with a mission to help other veterans, as well as aspiring entrepreneurs, find success. About a year in, I connected with a business mentor who completely changed my perspective. Her guidance was invaluable, and it inspired me to pay it forward—to offer the same support to others that helped me along the way.
Now, I’m dedicated to helping businesses and government agencies develop strong leaders while also supporting veterans and moms in building and growing their own businesses. My path has come full circle, from serving in the military to helping others unlock their leadership and entrepreneurial potential.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My entrepreneurial journey has been marked by significant struggles. In the beginning, before I found a mentor, I had no direction or clear vision of the impact I could achieve. The mentor’s guidance brought much-needed clarity and improvement, but the path remained challenging.
Eager to grow, I sought help from others, which unfortunately led to being scammed by individuals who didn’t fulfill their promises. This painful experience put me in a financial hole, testing my resilience and resolve.
Learning to delegate and trust has been an ongoing struggle. The journey has been filled with ups and downs, with numerous wins and losses. Each setback has been a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship, underscoring the reality of facing continual challenges and obstacles.
