Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa McGuigan
Hi Lisa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started as a new-to-town adventure-loving mom who wanted to share fun and family-friendly experiences with other families who were new to the area.
My journey has been about discovering new spots—from animal sanctuaries and amusement parks to local eateries—while showing that family fun doesn’t have to be far from home. Over time, I’ve expanded beyond Temecula, covering a variety of unique places all over Southern California. What started as a simple Instagram page has grown into a community where families can find inspiration and discover their own adventure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges for moms who create content is balancing the spontaneity of family life with the need to consistently produce engaging material. Adventures with kids are unpredictable, and sometimes the moments you plan to capture don’t go as smoothly as you’d hope. This requires flexibility in both our parenting and content creation. I’m constantly checking with my family to ensure this is something that they still want to do.
There’s also the issue of competition and repetition on social media. It’s easy for content to feel repetitive since many families are exploring similar destinations or experiences. Standing out in such a saturated space means finding unique ways to tell stories and share information. It can be tough.
It can also be tough to keep up with the fast pace of social media, where trends and algorithms change constantly. For me, it’s important to stay true to our own voice and brand, even when we feel pressure to conform to what’s “trending” or popular. I’ve found that focusing on building a genuine connection with my audience is more rewarding than chasing likes or views.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a former fashion executive and marketing professional turned writer, fun curator, and mama on-the-move. I am a co-founder of a local nonprofit, Jewish Together Temecula Valley, and I launched Temecula Mama to help families connect to the area and (hopefully) spend more meaningful moments with the people they love.
One of the initiatives I’m most proud of is the annual pumpkin drive I organize, which benefits sanctuary animals. Every year, families are invited to donate pumpkins to local animal sanctuaries, where the pumpkins serve as nutritious treats for rescued animals. This event not only provides much-needed food for these sanctuaries but also raises awareness about the importance of animal welfare and food waste.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If you’d like to work with me, collaborate, or support what I do, the best way is to follow my Instagram account, Temecula Mama. I’m always open to collaborations with brands, local businesses, and other content creators—especially if it involves family-friendly adventures, food, or Southern California life. Whether it’s through sponsored content, partnerships, or simply highlighting a neighborhood gem, I love bringing unique experiences to my audience.
To support me, simply engaging with my content—liking, commenting, and sharing—makes a huge difference. It helps my account grow and reach more families who could benefit from discovering new adventures.
