Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Win
Austin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins with a personal struggle—growing up in an Asian household, health and fitness weren’t a priority, and I found myself feeling very unfit and unhealthy. Determined to make a change, I started my journey 20 years ago by learning how to take care of myself first. I wanted to help my family live healthier lives and began studying nutrition during my undergrad years to become a Registered Dietitian. That sparked a passion for helping others, so I became a personal trainer to support people in achieving their fitness goals.
As I worked with clients, I noticed many struggling with injuries and chronic pain. This inspired me to expand my skills and pursue physical therapy after becoming a dietitian. In 2017, I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and now specialize in helping people live pain-free while getting healthy without extreme diets, surgeries, or medications.
The path wasn’t easy. Early on, I faced the challenge of breaking through the noise of fad diets and misinformation to teach my clients how to have a healthier relationship with food. While running my personal training business and earning my credentials, I also co-managed a family restaurant in Miami, FL back in 2012, which is still thriving today. Along the way, I moved across the country multiple times, made sacrifices, and prioritized growth—both for myself and my career.
Fast forward to now, life has taken on new meaning. In December 2023, I became a father to a beautiful baby boy, and it has been a transformative experience. This summer, I also participated in a reality TV show filmed in the Philippines, The Filipino Story, which inspired me to start focusing on improving the health of Filipino Americans.
Today, I’m living my mission to help others achieve sustainable health, and live their best lives all while avoiding a “dad bod,” . I take pride in practicing what I preach and empowering others to look and feel their best, while embracing this incredible new chapter as a proud father and a professional committed to making a difference.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to where I am today has been anything but smooth—it’s been a wild mix of ambition, resilience, and learning to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.
To be honest, I’ve faced my own health struggles. Growing up with asthma and being unfit and out of shape wasn’t easy, but it taught me that health is a priority, no matter how busy life gets. Staying optimistic and positive has always been my secret weapon—it’s what got me through the toughest times and kept me moving forward.
Professionally, one of the biggest hurdles has been helping clients navigate the world of diet culture. Fad diets promise quick fixes, but they rarely work long-term. My mission is to teach my clients the tools they need for sustainable health—to “know how to fish” rather than relying on short-term solutions. It’s not always easy, but when I see clients make lasting changes, it’s incredibly rewarding.
Most recently, becoming a father has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my life. My son was born two months early and had to stay in the NICU for three weeks. That time was an emotional whirlwind—juggling hope, worry, and the realities of being a new parent. It was a stark reminder of how precious and fragile life is, and it strengthened my mission to prioritize health and family in everything I do.
As a new parent, maintaining my own healthy habits has been another challenge. The sleepless nights, constant demands, and newfound responsibilities can easily throw off routines, but it’s taught me the importance of staying flexible while holding onto the core values of self-care. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about doing your best to stay consistent, even in the chaos.
These experiences have not only shaped me as a person but also influenced how I approach my work. I understand the realities of balancing health with life’s challenges—because I’m living it too. Being back in San Diego this year, immersing myself in the Filipino culture, and navigating “Fil Am problems” has been eye-opening. It’s inspired me to ensure my son grows up free from the same issues I’ve seen in the Fil Am community. My goal is to help others, especially Filipino Americans, find that balance and thrive, no matter what life throws their way.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been smooth sailing, but every twist and turn has helped shape who I am today. And for that, I’m grateful.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Becoming a father has been a transformative experience, and it’s inspired a new chapter in my work. My son, who is 75% Filipino and 25% Burmese, has brought a fresh perspective to how I approach my services. Living in San Diego, where we’re now surrounded by a large Filipino American community, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of culture and community in shaping health and wellness.
As a result, I’m now shifting my focus toward serving the Filipino American community. This is deeply personal for me—growing up in an Asian household, I know the unique challenges and cultural nuances that can impact health, from traditional diets to the importance of family values. I want to honor those traditions while providing guidance on how to integrate sustainable health practices into daily life.
My goal is to empower Filipino Americans to live healthier, pain-free lives without sacrificing the foods and cultural practices that mean so much to them. It’s about balance, education, and making health a sustainable part of the community. I’m excited to give back in this way, and I hope to make a meaningful difference not just for individuals, but for families, now and for generations to come.
